Enzo the Magnificent
I don't know what I'm looking at in those photos because I can assure you that neither of them is the Special Hobby kit that I have in my hands at the moment. In my opinion the SH kit is quite wonderful and I can hardly wait to get started on it.
PMG Offramp
Hi boys & girls ! I just bought MPM's 1/72 AH-1G Cobra "Spanish & IDF" & Vampire FB.52 "In Northern Skies" kits, boy they're nice ! The 1st Cobra photos I saw over the net gave me the feeling of very nice recessed details, if not a tad on the heavy side. Now that I'm fiddling with the parts, the recessed details look much more restraint, imho they turn out brilliantly : Airfix (& I still love your new kits), take note of it ;-) What amazes me even more is the fine molding of the smaller parts, they are perfectly defined, feature no flashes & the detailing is exquisite. Take a look at the optional rear landing gears & think Tamiya/Hasegawa quality. The fuselage is designed in a modular way, possibly to cater for other variants, but the fit of the nose & tail to the main fuselage part is perfect, no tweaking needed. The 5 part canopy is moulded in thin & very clear styrene, the 1st dry fit I tried indicated a perfect fit but care/a steady hand/very little glue will be needed when constructing it. Well done guys ! I have no idea if MPM intends to release all of their new kits using the steel moulds technology but if that's the case with their Sunderland, I'll transform my Italeri kit into confetti or, more reasonably, give it away with an undisguised pleasure. MPM, thank you for releasing such interesting & beautifully engineered new kits ! Edited September 28, 2014 by PMG Offramp
