Does your airline fly over a war zone?

The downing of MH17 and the controversy sparked by some airlines flying over war zones prompted this article in the Wall Street Journal aimed at helping airline customers to find out which routes their chosen airline takes. I suspect that two websites mentioned: Flightaware.com and Flightradar24.com will be familiar to users of this website but just in case they're not then I hope it's of interest.

Latinbezr,

That is interesting link indeed.

I have family in USA but also in DUBAI , INDIA , SEYCHELLES ETC.. AND I KNOW WHEN THEY FLY TO AND FROM DUBAI they are always wary...they do try and ask but it's not always possible To get an answer when you ask over the phone etc for fear of terrorist acts..

So this is helpful indeed.

I have in the past flown with Emirates, Turkish Airlines . QANTAS to Australia. Etc amongst a few others to travel to India and other places around the world; and I have noticed that the Airliner has flown over either Syria or Egypt et al....but that was before the certain people world decided to annihilate those who lived peacefully in it.

Thanks for sharing this interesting article.. For ME it was and is useful..

Link already sent to younger family members who are more savvy with iPads etc...

My pleasure Houston. The Wall Street Journal does have some interesting and unusual topics. I'll post shortly one that I've come across about a handle of universities in the US that offer courses in learning how to fly a UAV (drone). Unfortunately much of the flying practise has to be done in a simulator as UAVs are licensed by the FAA for general use.
