Airfix Bf-109E7 Trop, JG27 - finished!

Recommended Posts

I think the last time I managed to finish a model aircraft, it was before Al Gore invented the internet!

Well, here she is. There's one or two bits I'm not totally happy with:

One or two of the stencils have silvered (noticed too late!);

I ought to have put a vertical strut in the oil cooler, like I did on the underwing radiators;

The panel line wash dirtied up the finish rather more than I wanted.

But, on the grounds that perfect is the enemy of good enough, I'm calling here done.

A couple of colour photos first:

Here's another one with a bit of terrain/basing. I'll have to look to upgrading the bases and backdrops, but It'll do for now: you can see the general idea.

Finally, my best effort at an atmospheric, sepia-toned shot.

Well, hope you like it and thanks for looking! Hopefully I'll have another one along soon.

Cheers Steve! The method I used for the camo (find a flight sim "skin" of the appropriate aircraft, print it off and cut out a mask/frisket from it) was labourious but easy. All it requires is patience, a new scalpel blade and some distracting music!
