Gobs of Espresso
Today I visited my hobby store to pick up my order of a BMW Z8 and an Audi R8. As I think we all do, I promise myself that I will behave, not over spend, and only get what screams get me. Well not only did these two kits screamed at me but made me consider leaving the Z8 and R8. I did over spend, I didn't behave and I ended up leaving with 4 kits. The owner said they were clearing out their storage and they happened to find these two tucked away. Of course, I had to request if any additional finds should appear to let me know. The M1 does not have its decal sheet, has a few parts off the sprue, some nips on the clear windshield but other than that it's pretty nice. There is some moulding from being kept in a damp store room but nothing a general clean won't remove. I was also surprised to find a catalogue of ESCI products of that time. Why don't they do that anymore? As for the Audi Quattro, it's pretty much intact except for the decal sheet which has some mould stains on it as well. Might go over it with liquid decal film just to make sure the decals will still be usable. No plans on working on them soon as I still have a lot to learn and to find time to finish my first kit. Thanks for viewing! Have a great weekend! Gobs Edited July 18, 2014 by Gobs of Espresso
ptcruiser
Nice find. The M1 has reappeared in Revell boxing and is due to do so again later this year according to the Revell web page. I believe the Audi may have also been an ESCI originally. Rich
Windy37
HI . In my stash of models i built years ago (the loft ! ) i have a ESCI BMW M1 Procar . It had the "crystal" bodyshell and , i think , Jaegermiester livery . I think i painted one half orange and left the other side "see thru" . I must try to dig it out and put some pics of it on the Forum . Tamiyas Audi Quattro Rally Car was the first kit i ever built and is still on display in my cabinet . Ar , the memories !! Gary . I heard that a lot of the molds of ESCI went to Revell. I do hope the re-issue the Audi too as well as a lot fo older kits. HI . I was more into RC kits and an Audi Quattro Rally car diecast was also my first car years back and my only static kit till this year. Sadly, it's been too long and I can no longer find it. I would also love to see some photos of the Audi Quattro if it's not too much trouble. Thanks! Gobs

Gobs of Espresso
Hi Garry, Thanks! Not a problem. I'm in no rush. Hahahaha so you have kept an empty box or two. I was curious to know the groups preferences. Gobs

Gobs of Espresso
Thanks Rich! Yup I heard about it sometime back and it's great that those who would like to build one but didn't get a chance to purchase one will be able to do so now. I just hope that there might be after market regazzoni decals that will be available instead of having to make my own. HLJ sells the Lauda Marlboro decals originally for this car by Studio 27 but I still like the Regazzoni ones. Gobs

Gobs of Espresso
Wow! It looks fantastic! I never imagined it would look great in orange nor in a Jager Livery. Thank you.
Aimee'sDad
That Revell Audi Quattro looks very similar to my Tamiya Quattro? Is it the same mould? Also mine has a damaged decal sheet, wonder if these Revell ones would work....

Also mine has a damaged decal sheet, wonder if these Revell ones would work.... Sorry for the late reply, I missed this post. I'm not sure if it's the same mould but when you look both cars, they seem identical. The decals that came with this kit are off from being kept for so long so I might have to use some decal solution before using them just to give them a chance to stay intact. I have had no luck finding exactly the same decals but there are a few that might work if you are interested in other versions 1/24 Audi Sport Quattro S1 by Museum Collection and a few more here Gobs
