Winenut
Howdy folks! Well my FW190 is still waiting for decals....... So...... Here's my next build the crazy, kooky and oh so German B&V 141. THE most assymetrical piece of weirdness to ever successfully take to the skies. I love it. For this one I "think" I'm going to go for the simple one colour scheme but not sure yet. I will try and make some effort in the front office given the amount of glass on this bird. Don't know what that might entail (maybe a bit of scratchbuilding or maybe just a bit more attention with paint ......not sure) Anyway I will be trying some new paint techniques on the camo (for me anyway) particularly to try and add life to basically a single colour paint job. So chocks away!!!! Edited September 29, 2014 by Winenut
Martian
This should be good! I think that it is one cool looking aeroplane. Martin
DaveCromie
Hi Winenut Good luck with masking that greenhouse!!! I built this kit years ago and seem to recall it going together quite well but it lacked detail in the office, can't wait to see what you come up with DC
Winenut
Here's we go with some pics... This is the box art......as you can see purchased from Toyworld when I was supposed to buying stuff for one of my two crazy kids Now the rivet detail is something to behold but the plastic feels strong and sturdy and I think she'll build okay All I am going to do is roughly sand down the rivets....leaving some detail and interest and then polish up the surface for general aesthetics. No big effort here apart from wanting the plane to no longer feel like a pineapple every time I pick it up! This is the fuse after a bit of toning down This is a wing before and after.....sort of...opposite sides but hey you get the idea This is sort of where I'm at.. Time to meet the crew.... Hans, Wilfried......and some bloke lying down on the job! More to come and hopefully I can get that spinner spiral for the FW190 and I'll be able to put that to bed soon and concentrate on the crazy 141. Thanks for looking Cheers

I built this kit years ago and seem to recall it going together quite well but it lacked detail in the office, can't wait to see what you come up with DC Thanks Dave. Being very lazy and loathing canopy masking I have for the first time invested in an Eduard mask!!!! Might be the best bucks I've ever spent. I suppose it's another first I'm trying on this build. As for the front office yes it's very sparse. I have never scratchbuilt anything really....... so it's not going to be one of those gobsmacking, incredible , how did you do that type efforts but I might try to reference a few things and make some simple structures to add a little interest and improve my skills Thanks for looking

AdrianMF
This looks interesting. I'd be tempted to future the canopy and see how distortion free it is before deciding how much detail to add to the cockpit! The RLM02 overall scheme does look nice (and I like 70/71/65 as much as the next man). I saw a Fieseler Storch in overall RLM02 at a Duxford show last year and it did look the bees' knees... Don't spend too much time agonising on something that people are basically going to look at through the equivalent of the bottom of a Coke bottle! Appreciate your interest. Sgt.Squarehead
I was half-heartedly playing with one of these a while back, I was planning on kitbashing it with the Revell BV P-194, but I kind of lost interest when I heard about the alleged new tool from Trumpeter.....Seing this has encouraged me to have another look at it. The canopy on my kit is truly awful, bottle-glass thick with ridiculously overscale frames and a rounded appearance that doesn't match the rather angular original at all. I'd gathered a fair amount of reference materiel to detail the interior, but was rather put off by the fact that it would be totally invisible if I used the kit canopy,,,,,Does anyone do vacform canopies for this kit?

Good one Sarge. Strangely enough this beast might suit my purposes! My first ever scratchbuilding effort possibly ....might be crappy ....but hey can't see much through the thick warped plastic.....but that might be just right! So a mixture of my first effort....obscured by a bit of thick glass and hey presto!....something that will be a great experiment and be passable on inspection. I think I'm on a winner! ....well for my skill set anyway
fostersdave
Blimey!-I seem to remember Building this Kit about Forty Years ago!!.Looking forward to seeing what you can do with it best regards Dave
tempestfan
So you have something to be escorted by your Dora...I've never thought about building one, but I think if you file and sand off the frames, this may improve clarity to some extent. At the same time, you will be able to sharpen/straighten the (presumably) optically-flat panels, which probably will also improve clarity. The kit's canopy is very similar to the 189's, which is also thickish and with armour frames, as I recall it. Wouldn't that be something: Build a 189 as the "missing link" between the Dora nad the 141...
Sgt.Squarehead
I'd say the BV.141 was closer to the Dora than a FW.189.....It shared engines with the Dora's predecessors. Although the canopy of the BV.141 is superficially similar to that of the FW.189 in detail it isn't the same. The arrangement of the the twin MGs under the pilot's seat requires a good close fit with the canopy, something that will be rather tricky with the Airfix parts.....If you think the outside is rounded, check out the inner surfaces! Highly detailed build and some useful references here: http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/start-finish-builds/airfix-1-72-scale-blohm-voss-bv-141-a-32704-5.html Unfortunately the ihe interior work is incorrect, the modeller has retained the solid bulkhead behind the pilot and the 'hump' in the cockpit floor both of which are fictional. I've got one or two decent interior pics if you do decide to correct it. PS - @ fostersdave.....Nice dog! I've got Lurchers myself.

Tempestwulf
Didn't Revell reproduce this aircraft in scale? ah, googled it, they did the B&V P-194 Edited July 19, 2014 by Tempestwulf
Winenut
Howdy folks. I'm having a crack at a bit of scratchbuilding to add interest to the 3 man front office This is the start of some sliding seat that seems to be in the gondola This is the finished product with a bit of trimming and sanding Doesn't look too bad! Here's a bit more Here's the little sliding seat on it's new rails and here's another shot with a nice comfy mat for the bloke at the back of the greenhouse. Thanks for looking Cheers!

Winenut
Thanks heaps for all the kind words guys. I found a 1:48 build on the web that had a bit more detail in the gondola so I'm using that as a guide. Bit hard to find any actual drawings so this seemed to be the best thing to base it on . Not sure of the accuracy but it seems simple enough for me to have a go. Here's the link to the build i'm using as the guide http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/forum/makete-aviona-aircraft-modeling/blohm-und-voss-bv-141-b/ Cheers
Sgt.Squarehead
That interior is much closer to the real thing.....Here's a stie with a few useful images and drawings: http://aircraftwalkaround.hobbyvista.com/bv141/bv141.htm All of which the builder of that 1/48 model has linked you to already! Winenut
Whoa!!! I'm back. I think I had a bit of a weird experience and lost a post in the server transfer but hey.....I'm not complaining....I am hugely grateful the crew from Britmodeller put on the show for us and we can participate. So..... Chocks away!!!! I cracked on with a bit of stuff and here's a few pics... I went too heavy and sloppy on the interior so tried to tidy it up with a spray Started with this.. Tidied it up to this... with Hans in the pilot seat it will look a bit sharper I hope... So sort of working with this.. Originally had the boys sitting directly behind each other.. Decided to change it up... Looking good now I think... Here's the gunner on his mat.. and another one.. This is it with the other side closed up... one more and that's about it for now... Should be a bit more hangin' together on the next post.. Thanks for looking Cheers..
