noddy927
Just finished this build, it depicts a squaddie from the Staffordshir Regt. (me) on patrol in the Province in the early 80s. Did this for a campaign in another site. Thanks for taking the time to look, and please add comments. Pete

rmcclure
Great work and a pleasure to look at. A few years before my time but evocative for all sorts of reasons nonetheless. Cheers, Roger

Mr Modeller
Who doesn't love a model of a Landy and I LURRVVV this one Noddy!! Also love the simple display base - simple, yes, but that is all it needed and it works very well, perfect in fact. Well done on achieving a nicely completed model of a great subject - thanks for sharing it with us!! Kev.
redcap
Very nice and something different. The landrover camo colours (as I remember them) look to be perfectly in scale. Gary

Oh Tony the Staffords were airborne division during ww2 lol, and see when you are good friends with the QM it's surprising what you can get your hands on. Some fond memories for me also, and many moons ago now too lol. Thanks again guys. Pete

I was only pulling your leg anyway and that smock looks far too tight to be worn by any self respecting Para! Seriously though,.....great figure and a fabulous Landy,.....I can almost hear the click of the door handle and the distinctive muffled bang of the door closing and you`ve painted it just right, Cheers Tony
noddy927
Thanks Tony I know you jest. Glad you like it buddy. What about the road noise off the tyres? lol Pete
Natter
Thats very nice indeed, love it,.....however I do object to a hat wearing a smock!!! I had to earn mine!! Cheers, Tony Plenty of us hats got our smocks via Silvermans! The right to wear the beret and the wings is what you earned. That Landy is great and the figure is a cracker. Took me a while to work out what was wrong though - the SLR barrel exited at the bottom of the stock, the gas plug was at the top (remember burning your fingers on that? I still have the scar!). noddy927
Natter well spotted, The barrel was detached and it's been nearly 30 years since I held one. Need to rectify that, thanks for pointing it out. Pete When you were on parade your hand fit snuggly around that gas plug when standing at ease, Edited July 3, 2014 by noddy927
tonyot
Plenty of us hats got our smocks via Silvermans! The right to wear the beret and the wings is what you earned. That Landy is great and the figure is a cracker. Took me a while to work out what was wrong though - the SLR barrel exited at the bottom of the stock, the gas plug was at the top (remember burning your fingers on that? I still have the scar!). Didn`t it say on the label..."Smock Parachutist",....!! I was so proud to be issued my smocks afer passing P-Company and I had to buy by leather bound beret and my wings!! If you bought your Smock from Silverman`s you were ripped off, .....had more money than sense,.....or you were an officer? When I returned to `Hatland' (ie the Real Army!) I had an RSM who wouldn`t allow me to wear my smock as I was no longer serving in a parachute role! He even tried to get me to wear my cap badge over my eye and not over my ear! I relented on parades but when he wasn`t around I reverted to type and the crappy combat jacket was hung back up again for the next parade! Gas plugs,.....do you remember cleaning them using a match stick, earth and spit? It was the best way to get the carbon off and at least Para Smocks had woolly cuffs so that you could use these to cover your hands and prevent them from being burned,...a bit of ABI!! Now LMG & Gimpey barrels were painful if you tried to change them without spitting on them first,.....sizzle!! I didn`t mention the noise of the tyres as the fantastic model wasn`t moving but oh yes,.....long distance driving used to send you to sleep and when I hear the noise nowadays it takes me back 20 years to Queens Ave in the Shot where there was a steady procession of Landies driving up and down all day. Thanks for bringing back some great memories, Cheers Tony
noddy927
At last I have moved the barrel to it's proper place and there is a gas plug too. Thanks Pete
C&WR
Is it a Para Smock? I'm sure I had a '68 Pattern one with a beaver tail and buttons in front for fastening it! Anyway, congrats on a great build from this former Cavalryman/Scaley. Those seats in the back bring back memories, perhaps I was the wrong size or shape for them but my word were they uncomfortable...
