Cromwell IV 'Somewhere in France'

Recommended Posts

Just to prove that I have put a finished model onto a base he's one I made earlier.

The base came in at a phenomenal cost of about £1.50 admittedly, a few years ago, but the sea-foam moss was the biggest expense.

Ah! those were the days......

Well that was a quid and a half well spent!

Smashing model, great work on the figures and the base does its job a treat! :coolio:

Yep, it's amazing what a 9" x 12" offcut of MDF, some Wilko Filler, some matchsticks and a couple of firelighter splints can do. Who knew back then?

I'll have to dig it out and drag it along to a few shows and let another generation have a gander!!! :evil_laugh:

I think the key to this modelling lark is, you don't have to spend a bundle on bits to make something even half-way acceptable.

To be fair, that can depend somewhat on what you are trying to model!

Absolutely, couldn't agree more.

For me 20 years or so ago it was ................................ Trees! and look what we have these days. At the time, it seemed to work.

And this sea-foam moss was the very latest trendy stuff - I still have a couple of boxes (probably dust now!).

Nice build and a very atmospheric scene.

But as it's the second week of June and its a dirt road I'd have expected a bit more dust over everything! ;)

Nice Cromwell, I've never built one before, just thinking of how I could display one. One for the wish list.

just about the easiest kit that Tamiya have ever produced.

It's a no-brainer.

I've lost count over the number of times I've came back to look at this today - and this question keeps playing in my head

'How can I make models that good?'

I cry every time.

This is beautiful

Why thank you good sir! I'm flattered

Only just discovered this. That is a great looking tank and base! :goodjob:

I remember when sea-foam moss started to appear - it was the bees-knees of trees at the time. I also remember there being a company in London, possibly about 25 years or so ago, who used to make trees, etc for companies such as architects and film makers. I think they were called the Fact-Tree. I visited their workshop once - they were at the forefront of artificial foliage at the time - they had some of their full size film trees about the workshop and you'd have been hard-pressed to tell them from the real thing.

And nowadays we have Tremendous or, my 2 boxes of seafoam moss from my stash.

That is a wonderful piece of work mate. I love the shadows of the trees cast over the Tank. Brilliant work ;)

Thanks Rob

If you're coming to Sutton Coldfield Show you can get a closer look if you want, I'll be bringing it.

With lots of other goodies, and all my new builds (and some older ones for contrast).
