stevej60
Hi folks, here she is fully glued together after a little bit of stress! not a bad fit after sanding and a little bit filler here and there should look good under a primer,I have bought a rattle can of Humbrol primer as I think it,s a nice thicker coating rather than my airbrush, and I used a lead fishing weight which weighs in about the same as a Cortina engine block so if I should drop it the tremors will be felt in Cornwall
Tomjw
Looking good. Looks like she is going to be quite a size.

Thanks Tom,yes after all the 1/72 stuff it,s a culture shock, decent photo,s of the complete model will be difficult, forgot to mention the glazing above the rear two seat should be in place but I am trimming it down to add last in case of disaster. stevej60
Hi folks, after a fair bit sanding and cleaning up got the beast primed today.Still needs a little filler along the wing and tail to fuselage joints but as I use flexible filler from the DIY store and smooth with a damp cloth the primer is not affected, because I had to sand a fair bit of the top of the fuselage join I filled and(plasto) sanded those panel lines affected.thanks for taking the time to look. stevej60
Sorry folks for those that showed an interest, got the top coat done and while taking off the masking tape she took flight and hit the floor! the combination of massive nose weight and ceramic floor spelled disaster my wife thought the table had collapsed such was the noise! thank the lord I only paid eight quid for it.again many thanks for the support and interest. modelman182
Damn - that was looking SO good, too! Even at such a bargain, I feel the pain (must be the Scots upbringing in me! LOL!). Kev
PlaStix
What a shame!! It was progressing really well and you were relatively close to the finish. I hope you weren't just rushing to get onto the Hurricane??! ;-)

gingerbob
Steve, Very sorry to hear about the crash! Could you say a bit more about the "flexible filler" that you mentioned? It sounds useful... bob
General Jumbo
Bad luck Steve - was looking great too. Interesting what you have said about filler. I've tried using decorators caulk before - is that what you have been using?
tonyot
Bad luck Steve, I was looking really good and I was looking forward to seeing it finished, what a shame! We`ve all been there mate so we feel your pain!! Cheers Tony
stevej60
Thanks guys, one of those things! the filler I use is just ordinary decorators flexible filler the type that is applied with a "squeezy" gun.I fill an old Tamiya jar with it and apply with a cocktail stick, wipe of with a just damp kitchen towel of "finger",ideal for wing joints etc, once dry it can be applied again till you are happy with the result, once painted looks good,A couple of things though,it can,t be sanded and don,t get the silicone type by mistake! I Was surprised how well it worked on the lager area of a 1/48 kit, heres a before and after shot.
Tomjw
Sorry to hear about the crash mate. Is it really unrecoverable?
stevej60
Sorry to hear about the crash mate. Is it really unrecoverable? Sadly yes Tom the front fuselage hit first and snapped in front of the wings in two pieces due to the nose weight!
Winenut
Steve I truly know what that feels like!!!. My tricycle undercarriage P-39 Airacobra recently did the same shocking XX grams of lead in the nose disaster dive to the floor! Check it out here.... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960290-academy-p-39-airacobra-172-finished-done-and-dusted/ Is there any chance she can be saved????? I was very lucky....my wife found me on all floors almost crying with a lamp trying to locate bit's and pieces. If you have the broken bit's do try and salvage her as she was looking good. If not ......don't worry.........and have another crack soon as I always enjoy your posts. I will say DAMN those nose weights!!!! ........That and gravity got you and me for sure!!!! Cheers
robvulcan
I am sorry to hear this. I have not been on much lately I hear what your saying about those who take interest. I have started to think what's the point of posting here sometimes as it feels like your talking to yourself. That like button makes people lazy and stop socialising. That's the whole point for me to share the build and have a laugh along the way. It happens on here still sometimes but more and more people who used to frequent here seem to be leaving. Unless it just me and I maybe I should get me coat. I challenge you to rescue the Canberra or make a video of you driving over it slowly
Mark
I'm so sorry, not necessarily for your Canberra which was looking gorgeous, but for my spontaneous outburst of laughter! I was following this with interest as I have the same kit in the 'to-do' pile and I could feel your hard work through your posts and it really was looking great. And then... It reminded me of my Tornado Incident, 2010. A lot of work, a lot of passion in the building and then...... zzsshhheeeeeewwwwwwww...... CRASH!!!! Thankfully I now have a new Revell 1/48 Tornado in the stash to stir my Tornado desires! But seriously, such a damn shame and yes, I do feel your pain.
