Fishbed
This was supposed to go in the "build one day" pile, somewhere near the bottom to give those kits I purchased months/years/decades ago a chance of being built. Guess what? it didn't. Some poor quality shots with my mobile, but should give you the idea of what this looks like. Coat of primer on, ready for base layer of SSC2. Mr Grumpylee
I'm with Sam on this one! It looks ridiculous but I like it, who in their right mind would strap a 90 mm gun to a turret less vehicle???...Bizarre!!! Intrigued Lee

Intrigued Lee Its actually a 3" (or 76mm) anti-aircraft gun that was surplus to requirements due to being replaced by the 3.7" guns (or 94mm to the metrically minded) In those days, anything that could have stood a chance of taking on a panzer had they made it over the channel was probably considered a good idea. Tim I apologise for my mistake Tim, I knew it wasn't a 90 mm but I wasn't concentrating properly, I had a distracting noise in the background...I've still no idea what the wife was on about!? Intrigued Lee Shades of the Dark side I expect and also a sign of the times. Planned for but never used in anger, Ah Ha, remove gun - add 25 tubes on either side of vehicle over track guards, fill with bangalor torpedoes (or suchlike) with a propellant charge and aim at minefield - Eureka! Fishbed
OK, time for an update. Poor quality photos from my phone again. A coat of SCC2 brown as the base coat. I was unsure weather to use dark brown (SCC1a) or "Nobles Dark Tarmac" (love that name), for the secondary colour. Tried areas in both, and went with the tarmac in the end because a) I preferred the look because of the colour photos on IWM web that while not the Gun Carrier, is of a Churchill of the same period (http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205123914). Not sure how far down the sides of the tank the dark colour goes. All a bit stark at the moment, but a bit of dust and dirt should reduce that. Sgt.Squarehead
Sorry, I wasn't paying attention either.....It's 12mm! Either way, my point was that assault guns of this type were all the rage with most of the major and several of the minor protagonists in WWII.....There were the StuIG-33, the Ferdinand/Elefant, Brummbar, Sturmtiger and countless others on the German side, while the Soviets built a selection ranging from the dainty SU-76 through to the monstrous ISU-152. Hungary had the Zrinyi, Italy the Semovente and so on. Thus the idea was battle tested and sound, but the execution in this instance could certainly have been better......Unlike Fishbed's model of said monstrosity which is quite beautifully done.
