SeanM
Just started this on Sunday evening for a GB on IPMS Ireland, but will run a build-log here for anyone interested. First major step was to actually clean up the work area: And unpack the kit. 6 plastic sprues, the upper hull, tyres, large sprue of clear, some very fine PE and a small sheet of decals: I'm not going to post pics of each sprue as a quick google will find them easy enough with better quality photos than I can manage. Initial impressions are very good. Lots of parts, lots of details. Two minor flaws though: 1) There are two sink marks down each side of the upper hull that will need filling & sanding without ruining any of the detail around them such as bolt heads etc 2) The weapons, an M2 or Mk19, are quite poor. Will replace with a Live Resin Mk47 grenade launcher Some back-ground on the Maxx Pro curtesy of Wikipedis: The International MaxxPro MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle is an armored fighting vehicle designed by American company Navistar International's subsidiary Navistar Defense along with the Israeli Plasan Sasa, who designed and manufactures the vehicle's armor.[4] The vehicle was designed to take part in the US Military's Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program, led by the US Marine Corps, as well as a similar US Army-led Medium Mine Protected Vehicle program.

Mr Grumpylee
Sean, where did you acquire this? How much? Is there an interior? Is AM required? Is this to many questions??? Lee
SeanM
You promised to be quiet! Got it from Lucky Model for about 36 including post. So about £30. Only took a week to arrive in Ireland. Has a detailed interior so only AM will be stowage from my spares box. Oh, the weapons are poor, so Live Resin replacement for that. Some people will go for resin sagged wheels, but the kit ones will do me. Might add a Rhino anti-IED device too but not really necessary. Oh, I appreciate the interest so ask all the questions you want. Feel free to offer advice too: I'm no expert! Cheers Sean
Mr Grumpylee
Yeah sorry about that, i'll be back in my cage soon... I did check Hannants but none in stock I have spare weapons and stowage, so I could use them...hopefully! Thanks for the heads up, ok I'm off back to my cage now Lee
SeanM
Just checked the order email Lee: it was actually €38 including post, so £30.80 approx. Not bad for a lot of plastic. I didn't know Hannents did Kinetic...I thought it was just Lucky Model who actually own the Kinetic brand. Anyway, building has started The front wheel assembly can be made so the wheels turn. It's not in the instructions, but if the 2 hub halves are not glued to the axel and the connector bar has the pins melted rather than glued the wheels will turn: The rest of the under-carrage went together very easy. Normally I would keep this seperate to the body for painting, but that's not an option as it's integral to the body. At least I know it's level. Parts C5 & C6 are reversed in the instructions. It's quite obvious when you dry fit them so no big issue....
Mr Grumpylee
£30 that's not a bad price for a lot of plastic! The build looks quite straightforward, from the destructions I can see, so far so good... Lee
SeanM
Underside complete and armour on: And with the top dry-fitted: This kit is going together very well. I was concerned about the allignment of the side-bins and the the fit with the top but it was flawless. It's very well engineered and molded. Apart from the sink marks mentioned earlier.... One of the sprues in the box seems to be from the Kinetic M-ATV and includes a Rhino anti-IED device. While not shown in the instructions this will get used. There's also a lot of extra comms gear. I'm going to make the inside as busy as possible with these little extras. It may not all be kosher but will try getting it as realistic as I can
Mr Grumpylee
Looking great there Sean. Looks like this baby is on my to do list! Lee
SeanM
Started work on the interior: there's a lot of little bits to go inside (plus all the extra gear I'll add) and the upper exterior has a ton of parts to go on. Will make it difficult doing hairy-brush painting so progress from now will be a lot slower. Just ordered 2 sets of the Meng stowage And this
SeanM
Some small progress on the interior: Most of which won't be really seen after the windows with the slats go on.... Also started putting together the Live Resin Mk47. I'd forgotten how nice these pieces are. Clean crisp molding and fit together so well with easy removal from the pour blocks, very little clean-up and clear instructions. These photos do not do it justice:

SeanM
Thanks guys, nice to know someone is watching.... The inside is just about complete: A little bit of clean-up and light weathering then can close her up and start on the outside!
SeanM
The top & bottom is now all attached and started adding all the little bits & pieces....there are a lot. Because of the slats on the windows I'll have to keep them seperate for painting. The whole thing has gone together very well with no real fit issues. SeanM
One quick photo just to show painting has begun and this build is not abandoned: Using the old-fashioned hairy-stick method and it will need two coats, so if I can get to spend a little time each evening it's still going to take a week nearly.... charley420
Looks an awesome kit, you are doing a top job on it. Looks like lucky model may be getting some of my hard earned so one of these can accompany the buffalo 6x6 in the stash.
fredben
The seat belts came out good, pity as you say that you can't see the interior later on. It's coming on ok Sean.
