Mini Cooper 1275S Mk.1

Recommended Posts

Lovely looking engine.

I remember buying a mini - the same as the Tamiya box art - for £27.00 from a second hand shop about 35 years ago.

It was actually £30.00 but I only had £27.00 on me.

I drove it for 6 months, refunded 6 months tax - the car had a years tax when I bought it - and sold the battery for £8.00.

I got another £40.00 for the car.

A good little deal in all.

I'll be watching......

Some areas need touching up because the masking was not perfect but not long now until I can start mounting the engine and interior.

Looking really good so far.

A tiny hint if I may - use a fine point marker pen and 'dot' in the steering wheel spoke holes......

I had three Mini's over the years.

A pea-green early one, a White one from the late 70's - it had 'MINI' written diagonally up the sides in 18" bright green letters!

A new Poppy red one in the early '80's

Great fun cars.....

Lovely model.

Roy.

Only the roof left now. Unfortunately something happened when I glued the glass of one of the headlights as it turned out all "foggy" (don't know the correct word for it).

Blame it on condensation :) . I have had British cars over the years where condensation got into the headlamp...

I built this model some 10 (or more) years ago, and am now finishing the Mote-Carlo Rally winner ('67, I think).

Lovely kit. Some simplification in places, but builds up well as you are demonstrating.

My first running car was a 1963 Morris Mini Minor 850. I even remember the reg: VPN 633. Got me through my Uni days. I wonder what happened to it after I sold it?

Alan.
