Vosper 73' MTB Type 1 (Airfix 1/72)

Recommended Posts

That is an amazing result. I wouldn't have believed it possible to build this using the Airfix "fossil" as a base. Also hard to believe it's 1/72 (the lighter gives you away).

Top notch work Kev. :yahoo::thumbsup::yahoo::thumbsup::yahoo:

Jim I'm really looking forward to seeing this finished You and me both !!

Actually starting to think of what I might build next. I really fancy a break from braille scale :hmmm:

Cheers Julian, don't tell anyone but its really a very small lighter. Love your definition of breakfast

Cheers Kev

I've been playing around with the 20mm gunner today (hence the reason I'm now wearing 2 plasters :weep: )

This was the starting point

Hands are in the right place but his legs/body are too stiff. So....

I tried to get it done on the NHS but with the delays, cancellations, Nora virus etc etc etc I thought I'd self medicate

You can just see the wire through his hand to attach gun

Just the head looking wrong now :banghead:

Had a poke around my Telford purchases and found I'd bought some millicast figures !!

So off with his head and ....

Now for a bit of self indulgence. I've been sticking more bits and pieces on and I wanted to try out my new camera. Pocket job, Panasonic DMC-TZ60

" Love the base. it gives a real sense of raw power that these

boats must of had. "

Funny you should say that, I had the same thought looking at the pics. Well chuffed with the camera the depth of field (in focus) is huge.

Love the mock-up.....This is going to look great when it's all together!

Maybe give the guy holding the binoculars a scarf (lead foil is great for this), his neck looks kust a little thin to me.

Thanks Folks,

Julian, didn't use macro. I had it set on aperture priority and used max aperture. This got me thinking :hmmm: so I did a couple of test shots

Aperture Priority

f8 @ 1.3 seconds YES hand held at 1.3 seconds !!!

P1000452%20Copy_zpshsb1nlce.jpg

Intelligent Auto

Selected Macro f3.3 @ 1/4 second

P1000450%20Copy_zpsucg8euhb.jpg

These modern cameras are rather impressive. The ironic thing is one of the deciding factors for this camera was that it has x30 optical zoom (35mm equivalent of 750mm).

Sarge, I reckon your right necks do look a bit scrawny

The huge depth of field comes from the tiny sensor, which is a bonus at times. However, don't expect to be able to push the ISO too high, or the image will get seriously ugly.

Does seem contradictory doesn't it. I have a Nikon Coolpix P520 with a huge zoom and I end up using it for taking snaps of my builds mostly using the macro function. :photo: :photo: :photo:

Continuing to make tiny steps forward. . . . . .

Starting to think about rigging, guess what? The Airfix deck ring bolts are like beer barrels sooooooo

a bit .2mm brass wire gently annealled with a lighter and twisted up around a piece of 0.3mm wire

P1070968 (Copy)

Deck plate and a touch of solder paste. soldered with a lighter

P1070973 (Copy)

Epoxy glue into a hole in the deck

P1070979 (Copy)

Liferings painted up, probably should be painted to match the bulkhead behind but I like a touch of colour (Citadel colour 'Vomit Brown')

P1070977 (Copy)

and in place along with flag locker and fire extinguisher

P1070983 (Copy)

P1070987 (Copy)

Fire extinguishers replaced with 'Friendship Models' WWII tank jobs

P1070982 (Copy)

General view showing stbd torpedo tubes etc fitted

Ever closer, thanks for looking in

:) if one were feeling not quite up to indicating all those tiny flags, a bit of painted and wrinkled paper serves nicely as the cover they had on the lockers. Seeing the flags is, however a lot cooler.
