Carts
Hi All. Looking for a little help, after a fair few years of service my Aztek airbrush has developed the" broken trigger" malady, which appears fairly common,Having checked a few forums here,it would appear the body is under warranty(as I have not prised it apart,or let the dog chew it!) However,do I need to contact Testors and ship to the USA,or do ripmax replace or repair?(I did e-mail Ripmax, but have yet to receive a reply) Any pointers would really help. Cheers Andy
Stu_davros
About 16-17 years ago I had a problem with my aztec, ripmax sorted it for me without fuss ( the body was sent by them to Testors for inspection). However I seem to recall that testors changed the warranty from 'lifetime' to 'limited' some years ago. Cheers, Stuart
bzn20
Aztek was developed by Kodak and part of the Kodak group and then Testors came on the scene, not sure about the details of that but Kodak went bankrupt after years of falling sales due to the move to digital, camera phones etc.. Perhaps that's when the warranty changed.

Breaker
Tried dumping some thinner though the body without opening it, see if it frees it up? My Aztek was rubbish, i spent ages repairing the thing, the plastic linkages are rubbish!
Stu_davros
Thanks for the replies, looks like I will need to just buy a new one. My aztec still works but I upgraded to a Harder and steenbeck a couple of years ago. I found it to be a breath of fresh air after all the agro with the Aztec. bzn20
All I can say is what are you guys doing with your Aztek's? I haven't had any problems in over 20 years with the mechanical side of the thing, just the odd blockage down to my mistake thinning or using non airbrush friendly paints. I've changed one nozzle, I managed to damage the needle somehow. Hassle is the last word I would use to describe using an Aztek. To me, there isn't anything better, easier to use and CLEAN UP after use. That's my opinion of course and I'm not trying to tell you what to like or use.
Hotel Papa
All I know about Aztecs is that they have whole subforums devoted to their troubleshooting. I'm not aware of anything similar for any other tool.
rod mcq
The current UK importer for Aztek is Curtiss Gluelines. You might try contacting them http://www.gluelines.co.uk/contact-us
zero
Aztek airbrushes used to have a live time guarantee on the bodies, but this changed. they are now owned by testor, I had mine exchanged for free (some years ago, but the rules have changed, but it worth sending a email, if you have nothing to lose. Normally the small pin that depresses the needle breaks, and as the bodies are plastic weld sealed the only resolution is replacement. http://www.testors.com/category/136950/Aztek I loved my Aztek brush, and dispite owning 2 H&S Airbrushes (a Infinity and a Evolution) I still miss the ease of use a Aztek gives, highly recomend them as a great first airbrush. As I said it worth a email. it seems the warrenty (according to this thread, is now only 3 years!) http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=22066&page=1 Dave
little-cars
The warranty changed to 3 years about 8 or 9 years ago. The same time as I received my last delivery of brushes, the bodies that wouldn't clip together. Not sure how you stand with brushes older than that. Ripmax have been the major distributor in the UK for some years, Gluelines have been selling them for about ten years and Shesto have recently started distributing them, usually in their own packaging. I would go back to Testors directly with your proof of purchase and see what they say. But it may be cheaper and simpler to buy a second hand brush.
