PhantomBigStu
seems age has finally caught up with my humbrol enamels so no longer come out right at all, so I need to invest in some new ones, wondering what brand is best to go for, the ones in question are the standard grey green dayfighter camoflage. Have experimented with humbrol sprays previously using the gluetack masking method and its never came out right at the edges, any tips, or should I invest in the read made masks? Skyhunter66
Well you could try the Humbrol enamels as the newly manufactured stuff is really good. White Ensign or Xtracolor are also excellent but if you want to go for acrylics I use both Tamiya and Mr Color and both are superb. If it's WW2 then Tamiya have dedicated RAF colours for them and they are easy to get hold of Cheers Chris
spitfire
I still use Humbrol enamels occasionally however Xtracolor and White Ensign Colourcoats are the paints that I normally use, I've never tried the Humbrol sprays, I usually use an airbrush and I use the paper mask and Blu Tac method for camouflage masking. I cut out the masks from normal A4 paper and then use sausages of Blu Tac to keep the masks in position, normally the mask is about 1 mm from the surface of the model, and I hold the airbrush at right angles to the paper to try and prevent paint from going under the mask. Here's some photos. Paper mask with Blu Tac. Masks in place The finished article Cheers Dennis
Tomjw
Gunze Mr Colour Aqueous are great, especially when used with their own brand of Levelling Thinners. If youbare after WWII RAF colours Gunze do sets of Mr Color Laquer based paints in RAF colours (again use with their Levelling Thinners). Model Design Construction stock them. Cheers, Tom. Breaker
I've recently converted fully to Mr. Colour acrylics after trying Xtracrylics. I use the Blutak method, lovely paint to work, same as Tamiya. That's all Mr. Colour using the blutak method.
