AndrewE
This is the latest in my 120mm collection of British 19th century figures. This is a private from the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry from the time of the Indian Mutiny in 1857. The figure is one of the early releases by The Roll Call which I picked up second hand at Telford a few years ago. Very well cast in resin, the only problem being that the musket was warped and proved difficult to straighten (even now I think it would have a good chance of shooting round corners!). Painted in enamels and oils. Andrew
Anthony Kesterton
Very nice painting on that figure. The eyes look especially good. What colours did you use on the coat (the base coat and darker areas, etc)? anthony
AndrewE
Thanks Anthony. The tunic has a base coat of Humbrol signal red (174), after drying thoroughly I used Rowney Georgian Cadminium Red oil paint in a very thin lawyer over the top. Highlights and shadows were then done with small amounts of black and white oil paint worked into the red. I have seen people get great results with enamels and acrylics on figures but with their slow drying time I find oils much easier if I need to do any shadows and highlights particularly in 120mm. justin1980
Fantastic, I couldn't do that with oil paints, the drying times would frustrate me! Love the highlights and shading, captured beautifully.
Bengalensis
That's very nice. I especially like his beard, and also the look of his eyes is good.
