JohnT
I was in a book shop looking at some useful reference books and got to wondering whether Kindles, I-Pads or whatever with downloads would be a good alternative? Being old and slow with technology I have no idea what is out there and if there are enough aviation ref books useful to us modellers to download Anyone clued up on this? Catbird
Since I got my i pad Ive found it to be an essential. I can find reference material on my current builds. Its nice an compact so theres room on my workbench for it. I still use my books for reference but find the i pad is excellent.
davidelvy
I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Cheapernthan an iPad and more flexible than a Kindle Fire. I can use Amazon to download books or find out of cooyright publications as free PDF files. I can browse the internet and save copies of pictures for future reference. I can also watch documentaries on BBC I Player etc. Oh, and write this post. All in all a very useful tool.

justin1980
I use an iPad, got lots of reference books, the kindle versions, plus have the net and it's small enough to sit on the workbench. I find it better than having books on the bench, plus ebooks are cheaper. But you can be limited in which titles are available as ebooks. Hotel Papa
What about the quality of illustrations? Paper has its own limitations (I often wonder where the details referred to in the captions are; probably lost in the printing process), but are the images usually stored with decent resolutio and colour depth? Bordfunker
I use my Nexus 7 on the bench all the time, after all it doesn't flop closed like a book has a tendency to just when trying airbrush a call scheme! Having said that you do have to remember to turn off the screen time out! But that is more than offset by the ability to enlarge to images at will.
