Italeri M923 "Hillbilly" Guntruck 1/35

Recommended Posts

Here we have a Italeri M923 "Hillbilly" Guntruck 5 ton category from the early 80's. They earned the name "big-foot" It had home made protections to reduce the damages caused by the fire of light weapons. I enjoyed this big monster, all out the box, added a soldier just to show the size and a few box's of ammo and oil barrels. Painted with US green with a slight touch of brown, added washes, oil grime and many other little washes to add to the look to show it has been in action. All comments welcome as i am learning all the time. Thanks.

Very interesting subject, painted and weathered to perfection. Especialy considering the different types required from rusty metal, worn barrels, dirty flooring and the overall worn and beaten truck.

Splendid work, sir! I've just repainted the original version of this model today :D

Thanks GazB, Put your repainted model on britmodeller i would like to see it.

Managed to miss this the first time around so I'm glad Gaz found it. Excellent build and superb weathering! :worthy:

Glad you like it, been a couple of years, not seen it myself since. the model is sitting with all my other models in the bedroom chest of drawers. no room to put them on show.

Luvverly.

Thanks Badder, Got some new ones done since but not had chance to take pictures.

That is very, very nice.

The basic 5 ton with a winch was quite capable of traveling where a jeep feared to tread. I had a Staff Sergeant assigned to me who had been a driving instructor. We were at the Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona then. Think hundreds of square miles of desert with a small airport on the south end.

He had a standing wager of a free steak dinner that he could take one of these anyplace anyone else could go in a 2 1/2 tonner, a jeep, or one of the old Gamma Goats.

He never lost.
