S&M Viscount 800 low cost

Hi,

Not my thing at all but saw this and thought someone might be interested - S&M Viscount 800 with Eagle decals 1/144 for 4 Euro plus delivery (which is likely to cost a lot more than the kit). Still might work out cheaper for some.

Aviation Megastore in Holland - linky

No connection with them other than being a previous customer.

I got one for about £3 at Telford last year.

Nice little stress free build.

Trailing edges are mega thick though!

You could spend a lot more time on it than I did, and make a rather nice little model.

Can't comment on the decals though, not done that bit yet.

Rick.

I have no idea how much they are normally but 4 Euro sounded cheap!

S&M Viscounts cost more or less as much as you want to pay. I don't think there is any other kit on the market which is subject to such a variable price. I've seen it advertised for £29.99 although I forget where. The going rate is usually somewhere between £9.99 and £15.99.

Incidentally S&M's new resin Avro Tudor is over £50 at Hannant which is just plain silly. I think I'll wait until the Aviation Megastore starts selling them off as well.

I picked one up for £1 at Southern Expo, Mel was selling a whole load off. I know someone picked up at least 20 at that price.

Might be worth trying to track S&M down to check what sort of deals he'll do or which show he is next at.

I picked up one of the £1 kits at Expo and Mel very generously gave me a set of Aer Lingus decals fir free.... I was so pleased I came home and built the kit straight away... most fun I've had for £1.

  • 2 weeks later...

I bought 2 at Expo for £1 each and a set of BEA Red Square decals for £9.99.

At the end of the show, Cuprar (now banned here) bought up the remainder Mel had.

Nothing wrong with them, but the outer transit carton had some wet damage and he couldn't sell them in bulk that way, hence £1
