My first thought too... We seem to be giving up Warbird restorations at a alarming rate in recent years.

Lots of stuff heading across the pond with nothing worth while heading back to Blighty......sign of the times I guess, money talks.

Anyway back on subject Beautiful Spitfire... I hope I get to see it in the air during 2014.

Hard to believe that airframe has been buried for 40 years under a French beach.

Hmmm, I wonder just how much of that airframe actually has been buried under a French beach for 40 years. nevertheless, a superb job & it looks fantastic.

So that's four mk.I and a mk.Iia all flying in the UK. Wouldn't it be nice to see them all flying together!

As to the export of warbirds, I am not unduly worried as it all circulates over time. It only seems that we have a mass exodus, because this country is blessed with a number of specialist restorers that cater for a worldwide clientele and so some British restored and British registered warbirds only stay on these shores for so long as it takes for them to obtain their C of A. I would rather that (say) a UK restored Fairy Fruitbat was flying in New Zealand, rather than a decaying partial hulk resting in the open in this country.

Looks really nice and great to see another one flying.

Looks like it is one of those 'dataplate' restorations though. Post #14 shows what it looked like pre-restoration- http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?58968-Sptifire-recovered-from-Calais-under-rebuild-to-fly

Wonder how much of that is still in the now flying aircraft.

DISCLAIMER-- I'm not knocking any of the hard work, research, money and time that has gone into getting it flying, the more Spitfires flying, the better.

Yes it does make you wonder about how much "original" airframe is in there.

Great story, and great to see it flying again.

Is it just me though that thinks it looks more like a model, than some of the models on here? :D

Well, an atrocious lack of heavy panel lines, post shading and weathering, I must say. They could at least have made it look like an authentic Spitfire. :banghead:
