Nobby57
Evidently a 'new' Iranian mock up has been espyed, reports the New York Times. No doubt another propaganda fail but yes, you've guessed it...it's a CVN, and I suspect a lot of cardboard was used. The plan view of the bow end suggests that the Iranians haven't built anything bigger than a speed boat...but are they really basing it on a trimaran? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/21/world/middleeast/a-ship-being-built-in-iran-looks-awfully-familiar-to-the-us.html?hp&_r=

Windy
I suspect it is an Iranian model ship builder who is entering his local IPMS competition for largest scale model warship......
Nobby57
unbelievable LOL! I just can't work out yet what their intention is...maybe they want us to love them for their humour. As you say...unbelievable!!! Personally, I think there's too much herb being smuggled across the Afghan border.
Procopius
Could also be a prop if they're making a movie set during the Tanker War or somesuch thing.
Ravens
Allegedly it's being built for a film called 'Airbus', or something; as usual a pinch of salt is obligatory, and time will likely tell.

Nobby57
More than a little bonkers, me thinks....... What!!!? For a film prop...hmm? OK yes I agree; there'll be feet plunging through the deck above, papier mache floating on the wind everywhere, and a turd of a producer using the set all of the time and anywhere he really needs to. Advance bookings for this film - not approved! :-) Love it! Thanks for the info Ravens...I want to see this 'fillem'; I'm desperate for the belly-ache of a laugh fest I'm sure it'll be when it comes to 'New Tech' on this particular block! Has anyone suggested they build nuclear cigarette lighters instead...they might get a good look in on the 'Dragons Den' net show if they try. But all of this this is just Merde! Air France style no doubt...what heathens!!!! So after this, WE ALL NOW KNOW...the last few years of extra insanity = extra nutty nutters and not a hazelnut in sight! I feel let down already! Procopius
I suspect it's going to be a movie about or based on the shooting down of that passenger liner by the USS Vincennes in the late 1980s, based on the title.
bentwaters81tfw
Judging by the size of it in comparison to containers in the shipyard, it might just be big enough to operate their 'stealth fighter'. Then again, it's probably more American propaganda, like their supposed 'drone' that overflew and photographed a US carrier. Uncle Sam scored an own goal then. It was supposedly a 'new threat', but the aircraft on deck were F-14s that went out of service the previous July. That story very quickly got canned. Ravens
I suspect it's going to be a movie about or based on the shooting down of that passenger liner by the USS Vincennes in the late 1980s, based on the title. That would be my guess also, but I wasn't aware of any significant involvement of a carrier in the Vincennes incident that would be worth the expense and effort of building a fake one where stock footage would suffice instead.
