Paul A H
Polish Bank 1:72 Airfix The last item from Airfix's expanding range of resin buildings to land on BM's doormat this month is this Polish Bank Model. As with the previous models in this range, this is a one-piece item that requires no assembly other than the addition of the optional pre-cut photo etch window frames and (plastic) glazing. As with other kits in the range, the model is well-packed, but be warned that it is difficult to get back in the box once you have opened it and it will leave little bits of expanded polystyrene all over the place. The building is cast in the same hard, white resin as the rest of the range. The level of detail on this piece is just as good as the other items and, like the European City Steps we reviewed a few weeks ago, the Polish Bank also benefits from the addition of some wire parts. The building depicted is a two storey construction with a partial floor between the floors. It is much larger than most of the other buildings in the range and will make an excellent centrepiece for a diorama. As before, the only criticism I can level at the model is that the roof tiles and door are too thick for the scale. Replacing them would be a difficult job though, particularly given the shape of the roof. Conclusion Airfix's innovative range of resin buildings is useful to both modeller and wargamer alike. The real beauty of them is that you can put in as much extra work as you like in order to make them look as close to the real thing as possible. Highly recommended.
