Revell USS Voyager NCC-74656 - Ready for Inspection

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

This kit was started over 2 years ago and was one of the first kits that I built after starting to build models again. At the time I never painted a kit or applied decals so didn't complete the kit.

I started working on this kit for painting last September and have finally completed it. I am really happy with the way this kit has come out and think that Voyager is one of my all time favourite builds. I have several more starships in my stash (1 of which needs completing, 1 needs the decals removing and repainting, and 2 that need to be started on).

History of the Ship :

The USS Voyager is an Intrepid class starship, launched in the year 2371 under the command of Captain Kathryn Janeway. During her first mission, the USS Voyager was abducted by an alien called the Caretaker and taken to the Delta Quadrant 70,000 light years from Earth. During 7 years in the Delta Quadrant, the Voyager encountered the Borg, the Hirogen, Kazon and lots of other species. After 7 years the ship returned to Earth via Borg transwarp conduit and is placed into drydock for refit before being involved in keys events including the Borg invasion and finally returning to the Delta Quadrant (using a Starfleet slipstream drive) to explore.

Anyway here are the photos of the finished kit with the Warp Nacelles in Impulse position :

Thanks for looking everyone and as Mr Scott (Simon Pegg) says at the end of Star Trek Into Darkness : She's ready for a long journey.

Now onto the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E to get that one finished before starting anymore builds.

Cheers,

Rick

Great finish, Rick. You must be really proud of her!

Before it closed its doors for the last time, I was given the Voyager kit from Beatties in Lewisham. (I worked there before the end....), & I can tell you your's is better than that!

Looking forward to the -E. Enjoy that paintjob, mate!

Thanks very much. I am really happy with the way she came out. She will be taking pride of place in my display cabinet for the foreseeable future.

I will be starting work on the -E tonight.

Cheers,

Rick

Good job Rick; I do like the Voyager.

Did the nacelles require any extra work in order to be adjustable, or is the kit equipped to allow for either position once completed?

Ross.

Hi Ross,

No the kit is equipped to allow them to be adjustable when completed. The instructions simply state not to glue them as they use rods to adjust.

Cheers,

Rick

Voyager is my favourite 'Trek' ship and that looks the biz.

In a couple of episodes it lands on alien planets. Does the model come with undercarriage as an alternative to the stand?

Thanks Trevor, Voyager is my favourite ship as well.

I wish the kit did come with landing gear as the stand is quite unstable,

Rick

I have this kit and no, there are no legs included. I also have an Enterprise D and a couple of Defiants (one to be made and one to keep "mint in box").

I am looking to get hold of the Defiant hopefully when the re-release comes out (whenever that is) as there is no information about a release date or if i can find on evilBay or from a kind member of the forum.

The kits were both from ebay a couple of years ago. Originally I got my daughter one years ago, she built and painted it and I applied the decals. These are snap together kits but glueing is the way to go with these. There are only about 20 parts in the box and I'm thinking led lighting for the kit too (after I complete my Nimrod of course).

Looks great. I've started this project myself and have been looking for inspiration on how to do a decent job :D

Cheers,

If you need any photos of the ship emailed let me know, I can also give you the colour codes for the painters I used.

Looks good Rick. Nice job.

Cheers,

Tom.

Thanks Tom,

I have 3 more starships to work on after I have cleared some of the other projects I am working on.

At this rate thought it will be the 23rd Century before I finish all of the kits in my stash.

Cheers,

Rick
