Evie Air Show

Now I have trawled this site wondering where I should post this one and Art seemed the best I could come up with. This project is very different and whilst not in the realms of 'traditional art' may pass as artistic in its own right? You decide. I have blended visualisation and sound with my models and for the avid air show visitor out there I hope just a slither of the air show experience may have been captured here.

This is my very first diorama. It is a NATO air base called Evie realised in 1:144. I had to truncate the runway due to lack of space. It is a fairly basic layout and maybe not so aesthetic, but hey it is my first! The presentation style provides a different dimension and hopefully enhances the creation. Like art it may not suit everyone but a few may be interested

So here we go with the first two episodes

Part 1: The Arrivals

Air Show morning. The decorative bunting is up. Crash barriers are in place which means no on-site parking on Show day. So guests jostle for valuable parking spaces creating issues as visitors come in from far and wide

Part 2: Eurofighter Typhoon

The crowd are pleased to see Eurofighter Typhoon open the Show. This one in the RAF all black prototype livery. Built by a Consortium of 3 companies- Alenia Aeronautical, BAE Systems and EADS working through the holding company Eurofighter GMbH, this plane is a worthy show starter

More to follow shortly...

Part 3:

Next up is the Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. A twin engine turboprop designed and developed for the US Navy otherwise known as "Hummer" due to the distinctive sounds from the turboprops. This Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft is usually carrier launched. It was what was to follow the E-2 that pleased the crowd more

Part 4: In Formation

The Evie Air Show is now in full swing. The inverted runway pass at the end of the last display was impressive and the crowd waited in anticipation for more. They got it. They counted one...two...three...no...seven F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet jets coming in fast and low from the North East climbing as they approached

more to come from Evie...

Part 5: The Interval

Avid air show visitors will know that every air show has that quiet period around mid-day when aerial displays are paused and the crowd are invited to mingle and get up close and personal with static displays in surrounding areas. At Evie we are at that point otherwise called the Interval. Hopefully the sights and sounds of the air show experience are captured. The mellow music reflects the mood and the crowd are out and about taking it all in so why not join them.

Part 6: V-Force

Here in Part 6 we are still very much in the Interval. This time the crowd get to see up close, a massive restoration project where not one but three V-Force Bombers are on display. Britain's answer to the Cold War Nuclear Threat. These formidable birds were Britain's show of pioneering aviation, strength and deterrence. Evie are proud to be the first modern day air show ever to host all three of these wonderful aircraft. Formidable today as they were all those years ago.

But we suddenly find out that all does not go as was originally planned...

Oh no! now what?

Great show, I will be back next year. How will they top the massed F/A-18 fly-by and formation landing?

Looking forward to seeing the Valiant get airborne.

In a nice way, you are a little crazy!

Welcome to Britmodeller.

Thanks Chockhead. To be honest with you that mass F/A 18 formation flight was a nightmare to set up and create. There were many challenges to overcome. I laughed out at your "a little crazy" remark. You're too kind "plenty crazy" I'd say. Thanks again and glad you're enjoying this. More craziness to follow!!!

Part 7: The Protest

The Interval had just concluded and the crowd were just getting ready to witness history being made with all three fully restored V-Force Bombers take to the skies. But then we witnessed what appeared to be a serious security breach when an unknown what van gained unauthorised access to the runway halting the huge V-Force bombers in their tracks much to the crowd's displeasure

But nothing was to prepare us for the unsightly display that was to follow...

Part 8: Making History

So once law enforcement had cleared the airfield of the disruptive PEACE PLANET protesters, we finally get to see history in the making. All three fully restored V-Force Bombers line up to take to the skies. This remarkable group of aircraft formed the frontline of British Nuclear delivery capability. They were remarkable then and as the showcase of today's show are still remarkable now. Never seen together in flight at any modern show ever.

So sit back, CRANK UP THE VOLUME TO MAX and enjoy this grand, historic display of military might.

Part 9: Generation Gap

Here we get to see the amazing carrier based Grumman A-6 Intruder thrilling the crowd and then touching down. This is quickly followed by a dual display rarely seen at any air show. Old meets new, history aligns with future, yesterday flirts with today. An time tunnel brings two aircraft so different in design but equally unique and advanced for their own time. Savour this aviation rarity. This display was set to truly impress the crowd.

Part 10: The Finale

This is the grand finale of the show as the crowds are thrilled to one of NATO's finest fighter attack aircraft. The jet performs several low level aerial skills showing agility and manoeuvrability. Look out for the sequenced loop the loop! But as all good things come to an end this is the final display of the day...but maybe not quite the end for a few exceedingly lucky guests .

Ladies and Gentlemen we round up today's show by presenting the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle

Cheers Chockhead. Appreciate this was enjoyed. Yes a good few hours were spent. Thanks.

As for surprises...well its not quite finished just yet...but almost.

Like every good story there has to be the infamous twist at the end I guess. So do keep watching

Part 9: The Winners

As this series draws to a close in this penultimate episode, the Air Show has ended but there is suddenly a buzz of excitement on the base as departing guests check their Prize Draw tickets. Winners scream with delight, losers commiserate and board their coaches home. Suddenly security is stepped up around the base and a heavy army and police presence appears...but whatever all this is for nobody seems to be saying...

Editor;s Note: This episode happens to be my fav!

Part 12: The Prize

Alas, this is the final episode of this 12 part photo story video series. In the Evie Air Show final part we see a select few lucky Prize Draw winning ticket holders who were escorted to the far end of the runway under very tight security for a private viewing prize. The guests had no idea what amazing scenes they were about to behold. Sit back, turn up the sound and join them in this amazing experience. Please enjoy the final episode

I hope you had as much fun watching this as I did making it. I hope these posts brought something different yet interesting to this site.

Thanks for watching.

This is amazing a precisely what i want to do when I finally get my own house.

I only have 2 things to say on top of this being beautiful.

Firstly I think some spoken commentary (like Thomas) would really elevate it. Perhaps spoken as the airshow commentator?

Secondly, you should make a single fluid video now that you've kfinished as that'd be amazing.

However, I'm stunned. This is awesome.
