Ragtag
Procrastinating from painting the canopies on my desert Hurricanes led to me picking this one up from the stash. It's a DC Kits Class 114/0 which I'm intending to bash into a Royal Mail liveried Class 114/1. The most visible modification is the addition of roller shutter doors (2 on the driving car, 4 on the trailing car). The two on the driving car are relatively simple affairs, simply replacing a window and widening the gap slightly. The four on the trailing car are more complicated as one pair requires half a window to be removed and the remainder filled in. I've attempted one of these so far and, although it'll need a bit of filler, I'm happy with the results. The DC Kits have a modular bodyside which goes together in sections. This has been a blessing and a curse as it's made the cut and shut easier to do, but also means that I've had to reinforce the thin styrene sheet I've used for the doors. The end result should hopefully come out looking something like this (Photo from John Francis' Flickr feed as these were taken out of service when I was only 3, and my photography from that time leaves much to be desired):

Ragtag
Progress so far. Still some work to do but the basic shape of the bodies is coming together.
robvulcan
Good start and an interesting unit to model. Love the livery
AndyC
Never seen a Derby unit converted as this will be! They weren't in service a long time in this livery but it was very attractive
Glen T
Often been tempted by DC Kits i look forward to this one coming together, certainly is one of the better looking Royal Mail liveries. Glen.
Ragtag
The kit is basic but has gone together well so far. Charlie does sell upgrades for the underframe and an interior detailing pack. I'm told the door droplights are too shallow, which they are when compared to the photographs. Not sure I'll make a decent job if I try and file them a bit deeper though - if only I'd noticed before assembly!

Ragtag
Thanks Jon, if they turn up I'd love to see 'em Currently deciding on motorising options. I can either: a - hack out a space for a Hornby 121 motor bogie (easiest option for fitting lighting) b - buy a black beetle and wire through for lights c - fit nothing and drag it around with my Heljan 128 If anyone has experience fitting brass wiper pickups to DC Kits bogies I'd welcome your insight Edited March 11, 2014 by Ragtag
