Paul A H
F-102A Resin Upgrades for Meng Kit 1:72 Pavla When Meng's F-102A Delta Dagger was released in 2012, it was met with widespread approval from modellers who were eager for a state of the art kit to replace the geriatric FROG/Hasegawa offering. Meng's kit didn't disappoint, with its winning combination of accuracy, fine detail and good fit and finish. Now Czech aftermarket firm Pavla have produced a resin cockpit to help move the kit up another notch on the detail ladder.F-102A Cockpit (for Meng kit) The resin cockpit is designed to be a straightforward replacement for the original kit parts. It is comprised of a cockpit tub, complete with sidewalls and consoles, a replacement Weber ejection seat, an instrument panel and parts for the rear decking/canopy hinge mechanism. The grey resin parts are beautifully cast and detail is rich and pin-sharp, with features such as the controls on the side consoles and the straps on the ejection seat rendered very realistically. Meng's kit is no slouch when it comes to detail, but this set is still a clear improvement over the plastic parts included in that kit. F-102 Ejection Seat (for Meng kit) A cheap alternative to upgrading the whole cockpit is to stick with the cockpit provided in the kit and use a resin ejection seat. The seat is a really nice item and will spruce up any cockpit with or without the extra resin parts included in the set above. Conclusion As good as Meng's kit is, there are limits to what can be achieved with injection moulded plastic parts. These resin items are nicely detail and very well finished. With careful painting, they will help you to make the best of your Delta Dagger. Recommended.Review samples courtesy of
