Pocher 1/8 Rolls Royce Phantom ready for MOT

Recommended Posts

Building this model has been an enjoyable journey. And that is what it was - a journey.

To call it a kit doesn’t do justice to these old Pocher classics. They are actually far more than that. For anyone who has never built one but is tempted, let me say that there’s nothing particularly difficult about them. They are just a huge undertaking but if you approach them as a series of stages rather than being overwhelmed by the seeming never-endingness of it all, you’ll end up with a very impressive model. The sheer size of the finished car makes it a conversation piece. Frustratingly, the pictures really do not convey how large and imposing the model is. As a guide, the table it stands on in the pictures is 6' x 3'.

I haven't posted umpteen detail close-ups etc, as there are more than enough of those in my build thread:

All the kind comments along the way have been a great help too, when things weren't going quite right at times so my genuine thanks for that.

If my long-winded waffle of a build diary was of help to anyone then I’m happy.
If it bored some of you to tears and you just looked at the pictures, apologies but that probably comes from being a teacher for 35 years, and writing books.

The model will continue to get tweaks and minor alterations/adjustments, as a project like this is never really 'finished' - I still need to sort out the sides of the roof that don't hang down properly for instance....

I hope some of you have enjoyed following my build as much as enjoyed doing it.

Maybe the Alfa Romeo soon….. Or the Mercedes.....?

Roy.

awesome build, still can't get over how well that silver finish has turned out, really stands out, particularly in these latest pics.

Really enjoyed following this one Roy, finished product is impressive in both execution and size.

Maybe the Lambo next? I think so!

That does look fantastic -- great job, Roy. As a conversation piece, though...

"Where am I going to put the dinner?"

"But look how lovely it is..."

"Yes, dear, but we do have to eat!"

"But it's sooo SHIIIINNNY"

"So are our knives and forks... now take it out to the shed, please dear..."

;-P

bestest,

M.

A master class... you can be rightly proud of your labours.... one question though, did the car not have the royal crests on the doors...?

You are correct.....

Pocher even supply the crests as decals. They even go on the door window glass too.

I just haven't put them on yet.

BTW..... Many thanks everyone for your very kind praise.

Roy.

Roy, I've just picked up my dropped jaw and I am now able to speak.

But what can be said that has not previously been said? She's a real beauty and you should be rightly proud of her!

This thread came before I joined so this is first time I'm seeing it.

Roy, You deservedly had an enthusiastic and supportive audience - this is no little parlor trick you've accomplished. The praise is earned. A spectacular tour-de-force of modeling skill and taste.

Seeing yours in final form only increases my resolve and eagerness to get mine to the same final stage.

Guys-remember that Roy gets to see this every day. I know we sound like salesmen but push away your fears and impediments and get a Pocher of your choice. Imagine seeing this each day at your house. You can't believe the satisfaction you'll have.
