longshanks
Hi Folks, Can anyone suggest what colours / techniques to use to achieve a realistic natural softwood, new and aged, finish on plastic? Thanks in advance for your thoughts, Cheers Kev

Jockster
When painting the deck on my Varyag protected cruiser I used watercolour pencils to add various subtle tones to the deck planks, using damp cotton buds and damp brushes to blend them in. This was over base colours and washes of light and dark brown and some dry brushing. The pencils gave a huge amount of control and tonal variation!
