Homebee
Paul Fisher, from Fisher Model & Pattern (http://www.fishermodels.com/), is actively looking into a 1/32nd RF-8 Crusader resin conversion set. To be followed. Source: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=48212 Quote (...)I am actively looking into the much requested RF-8 Crusader conversion, it will be a fairly large piece of kit, so the jury is still out on that one but "keep those cards and letters coming in" and perhaps we can make it happen.(...) Quote (...)As for the RF-8 Photo Crusader, it's the entire fuselage from the main wheel wells forward, as well as a hump for the upper wing , a lot of work to do it right.(...) V.P. Homebee
In progress. Source: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=47815&p=835131 Quote Here we go...some pics of the fwd fuselage halves in progress....These were shot before I started chopping holes in the beast. Intake, cockpit and nose gear well have since been opened and I am working away on truing up the inner wall thickness so everything will fit in there. Wing box has to come off too, but more on that soon. These parts are made of tooling epoxy, brushed into female molds taken from the hard foam male plugs. Very messy business working with this stuff, especially cutting and grinding as it is HARD....But it doesn't shrink, so it's the best medium for this kind of work. Scribes well, too. More soon, have to clean up this mess in here! Quote Posted 10 October 2016 - 07:46 PM Making good progress, currently building the seamless intake, which is a real challenge as there are camera bays on either side of the nose wheel well and the intake arcs up over this stuff...Yeesh! Making the final master for a canopy too, it has to be polished to a mirror finish before molding, without wrecking the framing lines.Once it all comes back together i will post pics, right now it looks awful! Julien
Wonder what decals will come out for this. The one in my sig would be good. VFP-62 for an A and the late G with wing stripes from VFP-63would be good. Project Bullet anyone?
Homebee
Source: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=47815&p=856942 Quote We're not far from being done, I am currently making up the cockpit and some camera inserts for the bays,Once those are done it's just some fastener detail and a little fixture to assure alignment of the fuselage fore and aft to make assembly easier and we're into tooling and production. The main bits are shown above, fuselage halves, nose with seamless intake, the canopy masters and the fwd camera bay fairing.Early Vought seat and later M-B Mk 5 will be included courtesy of Harold Offield, thanks buddy! Nose wheel well and a corrected nose wheel and gear leg are almost done. The trumpy kit part is too big and shaped wrong so we have to make it over. Paul Camera bay windows are clear resin, as will be canopy parts. The upper wing center section will be included too, similar to our F-8C conversion but with the bigger bump for the RF. V.P. colin ritchie
I've been trying to cut back my modelling spend, but this is a Must have .. the hard part is going to be holding myself to only one , since both the A and G models appeal...!
