Shermaniac
Well Guys! We made it!!! When: 2nd Jan 2016 to 24th April 2016Hosts: Shermaniac and Col.How about 'Made in Britain GB' so: British Designed and/or built and Used by Britain British Designed and/or built and Used by Others (Saudi Lightnings, Danish/Swedish/Israeli Centurions, Kuwaiti Saladins, Swiss Hunters etc) So, no Phantom's or C130's just proper British made goodies The Jaguar (Car), TSR2, Vulcan, Churchill, Centurion, Chieftain, Sopwith Camel, WWI Tank - see what I mean....... This can encompass Cold War Jets and AFV's from then as well as anything from the year 'dot' right up to now Experimental subjects: Any of these elements will need to be supported by archive pictures (not drawings or CAD) Just seen the TV prog Cold War, Hot Jets and it seemed that we, the Brits, had the world in our hands then someone sold us out so! With the advent of Britain being the technology leaders of that time we should have a GB around this subject. Happy to Host but would like an 'Experienced' personage to co-host We're there guys and this is for 2016 - thanks for your support:Exclusions:Anything which us not factual by nature. This will also apply to 'paper projects' which never achieved at least an experimental working prototype.I'm also going to put What-if's into this statement as well. There are more than enough possible subjects which can be covered within the base parameters. Current volunteer list is, as follows: Shermaniac (Moderator) Col. Max Headroom
I'd be interested. Just a clarification please, as I assume foreign designed but British built are out eg Shorts Tucano. What about joint ventures such as Concorde? I would suggest built and designed only in Britain. Trevor

What about joint ventures such as Concorde? I would suggest built and designed only in Britain. Trevor Hi, the parameters are still to be fully defined as I only thought of this GB today and my original thoughts were for Designed, manufactured, built and used in Britain but that seriously limited the scope due to exclude all aspects of foreign involvement - especially in the designs, and especially when it comes to CARS! - there's a lot of Italian design in our cars and could also seriously limit anything from Ford, Nissan, Toyota, et al. ** Not sure yet about the likes of the Tucano, that's where the Experienced person with knowledge comes in to joint co-host The Tucano T1 is a modified version of the Brazilian Embraer EMB-312 Tucano aircraft, and is built under licence by Shorts of Belfast. Some basic ideas to discuss: Manufactured in Britain Built/Assembled in Britain (not sure about license built as in Apache, Tucano) Used in Britain (so, in British liveries) even if it was exported
Sgt.Squarehead
I'm always up for a bit of flag-waving.....It'll be one of Hobart's Funnies for me. Where would something like the Sherman DD, Crab or Firefly stand.....These were American hulls, heavily modified in the UK and largely destined for British use? theplasticsurgeon
I had a quick look at my stash spreadsheet. 40 undisputed offerings, British Designed, British Built - a few could have foreign decal options, but I'll filter those nearer the time. I excluded the following from my count. Chipmunk - designed in Canada. Second Gen Harriers - wing at least is McD design. Tornados and Typhoons - partnerships with overseas companies. Would also include Concorde and Jaguars - if I hadn't already built them already. Plenty to be getting on with - count on my support. Oh and a Jaag racing car. Where would something like the Sherman DD, Crab or Firefly stand.....These were American hulls, heavily modified in the UK and largely destined for British use? US Shermans in UK service - I'm Shermaniac and I won't be building a Sherman in this GB - they weren't actually built here (modified, maybe) but I think there are plenty of other Hobart Funnies, look at all those Churchill's we had. How about the Giant Panjandrum Churchill, Crusader, Valentine (but not the MkIII Canadian one's), Matilda, Centaur, Cromwell .........

Col.
This GB idea deserves a lot more attention here in my personal opinion: this is Britmodeller after all. Perhaps I've a biased opinion since the bulk of the stash consists of British made subjects
