This book has been around for about a year, though I am not sure of availability.

Having watched "Strategic Air Command" with James Stewart the other day, and having a B36 in need of some TLC and another in need of building, I checked Amazon for B36 books. This one came up (out of stock at Amazon) but available for about a pound more at a seller. Cost me just under £16 (US Price is $26.95) and seeing as most places seem to advertise it at silly prices I ordered it a few days ago and it arrived this morning.

Had a brief look and there is a good selection of photos. The movie had some interior shots of the plane and I now have it on my Sky+ awaiting transfer to DVD (doesn't appear to be a purchaseable movie at the moment). Quite interested to read online that the prototype all jet version of the B36 (YB60) could carry 72,000lb of bombs!

Did not know it was still available. I bought mine a few years back from a bargin book section of a trader at Waddington and I note it was orginally published in 2001 and re printed in 2005. As a plane it is not my normal area of interest, but it is such an amazing aircraft I could not resist buying it. Shame it covers little of the operational use of the aircraft, but a good read. I would have loved to have seen one in the air but being born in 1954 have to content myself with Shackletons, Lightnings, Hunters and Vulcans.
