davepb
Hi, I want to convert the Heller 1/400 HMS ILLUSTRIOUS to represent HMS VICTORIOUS in 1966. Does anyone know where I can get some drawings to help with this task? Cheers, Dave
AntPhillips
That's a fairly massive conversion, she was rebuilt from the hangar deck up, but if you want to give it a go, the best reference in my opinion is the Anatomy of the Ship series book on Victorious, lots of drawings of both the ship as a whole and detail drawings. davepb
Thanks Ant, now to find a copy at a lot less than the current Amazon price!! Dave
AntPhillips
Hi Dave, I have seen online a Russian website that has scanned copies of the drawings available for download. I do have the book, it is worth every penny IMHO but if you can't find one at a decent price, I might be able to photocopy the drawings. I have a long stalled project to convert the Airfix 1/600 kit into her final configuration with the 'Alaskan Highway' outboard of the island and most of her AA guns removed. I'd love to see a 1/350 kit of any one of the Royal Navy's aircraft carriers from that era, but Victorious would be my preferred candidate. Happy modelling.
