A new company - yes another one - called Aviation Art is to release an all new tool 1/48th Sukhoi Su-33 "Flanker-D" (formerly Su-27K) kit - ref.48001.

Aviation Art is linked to the famous designer Chris "Zactoman" Wilson from Zactomodels - http://www.zactomodels.com/.

Hmmm, what have we here?

An all new tool 1/48 Su-33 Sea Flanker!!!

Late last year I was approached by a new company, Aviation Art (temporary working name(?)) to help develop their first kit (rather than make resin correction sets for it :P/> ).

It's been a real pleasure working with such a talented team. :worship:/>

I am looking forward to doing much more with them in the future.

These CAD drawings are not final. There are still changes being made.

I don't have an estimated release date yet.

I'll update as I find out more.

Remember, HobbyBoss is supposed to release in 2014 a 1/48th Su-27 "Flanker-B" kit:

 Something about this aircraft that really appeals to me, so was hoping it'd get made by someone eventually. I've seen the resin conversions but they look more like a jigsaw puzzle than a model kit.

oh hell :yikes: I am so going to be bankrupt by next year or maybe earlier at this rate.

I was just about to post about a new too Su-27/33. Though I am surprised by the manufacturer, I honestly expected to hear something from GWH about a new tool flanker in 48th scale, given Haneto's input on the Fulcrum and his impressive work on the flanker, I did think I might be onto something.

Who knows with a fair few manufacturers releasing similar kits in similar scales but new tools, not entirely unlikely that we might see other ones have a bash too!

I wonder how impossible it would be to make the SU-37 '711' from this?

Is selling your children or maybe just putting them out to work early to fund the stash wrong? :)

with a lot of cutting and scrath building.

The wing aea for the Su-33 is bigger, tail cone difrent, exhaust has to be modified and other small parts.

Maybe one day the will come out with a Su-37.

So not particularly feasible :)

I've got the SOL SU-35/37 conversion for the Academy one but do not yet have the skill to use it!

A quality modern SU-37 would be epic but hideously unlikely given the extra tooling cost for an aircraft there was only 1 of.

Just gonna have to get more skilled and give hte SOL conversion a go.

(...)Here are some updated CAD images. A bunch of small but significant changes have been made since the original CADs were posted.
I'm still waiting for an answer on estimated cost and release date and hope to have the box art image soon.

Last news from Zactoman

Just letting everybody know that this project is still alive!

Still no estimated release date yet. The teething pains of being a new company... We are getting close though!

I've been busy researching and doing camouflage/decal charts.

Here's a small sample:

The decals will be printed by Cartograf.
