Sean_M
This makes for an interesting pic. Anybody know anything about this aircraft. It has some interesting features. Type C wing Cannon and 50 Cal. and what appear to be out board .303's Bob racks What I assume are rocket racks Now the little I know the main batch of spitfires were LF IXe bought form Czechoslovakia after the '48 war, Israel acquired a batch from Italy. Someone in another forum states that the IAF had a number of IXc. I can't find any proof of this other the the first 2 spits which where pieced together from bits and pieces (D130 and another) As always looking forward to learning from the boffs out there. dfqweofekwpeweiop4
The IAF did indeed have a batch of Spitfire IXc's. There was a batch of 5 built from spares, serial no's D-130 to D-134, of which at least 1 of them had a C wing. There is a pic in Camouflage & Markings, The IAF Pt 1, 1948-67 by Ray Ball. Sadly the pic is taken from the aircraft's 10 o'clock at ground level, so you can't see the serial no. D-130 was configured for recon and all 5 of these Spitfires were from 101 sqd. There's no more in the text specifically about them but the pic proves at least one of them had the c wing. thanks Mike
