Well, speak about frames; the window frames on the finished kits look a tad thick to me. Is it the way they were painted or they were injected that way?

You're right they're painted to look thick. Looking at the clear parts sprue the frames on the canopy are narrow. They were injected to be narrow. Also the fuselage parts don't have those huge battleship rivets. So I think the kit itself may build up into a nice replica of the Mentor.

Here's what it looks like in real life:

Those built models make the kit look like a long lost 1959 hawk or Lindberg tooling that has been recently found and re-popped, first impressions are powerful and lasting and my first impression is Yuck ! , but i will wait and look for a full review .

Agree, they are not doing it any favours. NMF does not help either, probably looks better after a quick sand and some paint.

I agree with you that the kit looks quite good. Can't wait to see more.

It looks like a T-34 to me!  (I never thought I'd say that...)  Even if it does have big rivets, I think I can handle that problem.  Easier than mashing a Bonanza and a T-34C together, anyway.  I'm just glad to see some evidence that this isn't one of those fantasy "No, really, we're going to do ____ ..." projects.

Knowing Minicraft kits in the UK they won't be cheap!!! They seem to be making good use of the kits origins back to the V35!

Nobody can force you to purchase your kits in the UK. Remember that today the world is two or three clicks away.

On sale at Mega Hobby in USA. Got mine 10 days ago. Beautiful kit and in IMHO the fuselage riveting is not over done, although every last one is there. Perhaps they will jump out under a NMF or silver paint but they look good in the box. The bare minimum prototype markings leave something to be desired but my Caracal sheet is in the mail.

I know the Czech Model kit - I've built one and have another in the stash. It's not the easiest (and very hard to find) so I was wondering if there would be a Turbo version of the Minicraft moulds.

The original Minicraft announcement, years ago, promised a T-34A/B/C. A B model can be made from the parts in the box, although decals are provided for the A only. A B is likely in the future as only new decals are required. A C is much more of a reach. A whole new fuselage and a new set of wings would be needed. The Sprue layouts don’t seem to accommodate that. There is no speration of those parts useable in a C from those that are not. But, one can always hope

Freedom Models 1/48 T-34C

Certainly an early will be produced, or is it really that different.
