crobinsonh
Having bought the new Airfix Javelin I know it had to move onto the build pile. Great kit and as the review shows Airfix are making progress all of the time. I want to limit the amount of scratch work on this model but the Ejector seats do need harnesses! The first work was assembly of the ejector seats: Then onto the re-creation of the harness from photographs of the ejector seat on the web: Instrument panels next and then painting will begin. Buy this kit you will not regret it. Edited June 3, 2014 by crobinsonh

Col.
Great to see one In Progress, I know this is going to prove a very popular thread, cracking start on the bang-seats.
Navy Bird
I'll be following this one! Hope you don't mind another gawker. One suggestion on the belts - a couple of them seem to be defying gravity. This is a common issue with PE belts and something that happens to me all the time. Once the belts are glued down solid, you can use the "other" end of a paintbrush to gently push the belts down so they're in contact with the seat cushions and side rails. I know, it's a nitpick but it's an easy fix. Looking forward to seeing the progress! Have the three Scimitars gone on holiday while you build the triangle? Cheers, Bill

BushBrit66
I am in about the same position although I have now painted the tub. It's pretty detailed and accurate out of the box. Got to be the best Airfix kit ever.

general melchett
Great start Colin and a big improvement on the seats. Think I'll wait for Telford to see how much I can blag one for, (can see a bit of frenetic bartering coming up)...always liked the stumpy look of the FAW 8 to be honest....and what with so many mods done to so many airframes it's a modifiers dream !...... quitefranklypants
Just doing this kit myself, just finished the cockpit and onto the jets. The quality is, as you say, superb!
SLoB
Looking great. Excuse my ignorance on the matter of the ejector seat, but I am thinking of putting figures in (with all that fine detail in the cockpit you probably think me mad ). What I am not sure about is where the various belts go when there is someone strapped in I have looked on the interweb and found no helpful photos. I can make some assumptions, but it would be good to ahve a clear guide. Lap straps and shoulder straps seem obvious, but there are quite a few other straps to these things and I have no idea where to wrap them Thanks in advance for any help Stephen

Kallisti
I was doing some research about the Javelin bang seats and it appears that they used Martin-Baker Mk3 seats, the same as Canberra, Vampire, Hunters and others http://www.martin-baker.com/products/ejection-seats/mk1-9/mk3 (click Installations for the list) So I had a hunt to see if there were any suitable after market alternatives and found this PE set for Canberra: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED49469 If you download the instruction PDF (http://www.eduard.com/store/out/media/49469.pdf), it looks like a decent match to the complexity of the seat belts you see on the second photo on the MB site. You say that but I have seen pictures on the web of FAW 9s with the style of seat Airfix have used.(Mk5s by chance?) Prehaps the Mk3 was only fitted to the earlier marks?
