triumphfan
I do like that. Do you get the decals in the kit?
AndyC
Nice to see the old ice cream cart being built! Good work
andrewribs
You just get the "Deltic" name with the kit, the stripes and nose whiskers are raised detail which I have scraped away. The decals come from Fox transfers, I also have the etched builders plates which will be fitted later. Andrew
rayprit
Hi Andrew How are you managing with the glazing? I believe the glazing mold was lost or damage sometime ago. I did try the flush glaze but was not impressed with it regards
BritJet
Looking good so far, can I ask what blue you've used? Steve
andrewribs
I'll be using South Eastern flushglaze, should be OK for this project. I used "deltic blue" from the railmatch enamel range. Andrew

robvulcan
PHWORRRRRRRRRRRRR shes looking gorgeous..... I love this beast I would love to see her restored to running condition. I love the old dapol kits, I have a rocket and prairie to make up yet.. I want to try and motorise rocket (tiny and a challenge ) Cant wait to see this build finished. Why dont you get the hornby railroad deltic chassis. Its the old lima chassis with a much much better smooth motor. and dcc ready so you could fit sound easy. plus there will be loads of room for a biggest size dcc supplies bass enhanced speaker. which are fabulous, My ex lima 40 has this two, and runs on a railroad chassis, I got a 58x22 mm and a 20x40 mm speakers in there, It is so loud it has to be heard to be believed but it actually sounds like a 40 is in the next room !. This is the best build of one of these I have ever seen. Cheers for sharing Rob
andrewribs
Rob, thanks for the kind comments. Thought about the newer chassis but I wanted to keep costs down, bought the chassis as "spares" for £7.50. I model Early/mid 80's so it will only get the odd outing when I finally get the layout built. I know everyone knocks the Lima chassis but I get them to run OK, This one has 10 wheel pick-up, wheels are cleaned with a dremel which makes a huge difference. Hope to get some more pics posted this week. Andrew

Andrew I agree with you actually, I love the lima chassis, people have bad memories and think they run bad but in actual fact they always were fantastic runners, But they are noisey and alot of people dont like that, personally I love the noise. Lima locos were bombproof and highley reliable, I still have many lima hsts I wouldnt sell them,. The hornby pancake can be good too but the 5 pole is much better, My hornby 86 will pull far more than any modern loco, It will pull the CMX track cleaner but I couldnt get any modern loco to pull it, bachmann 40,66,55, hornby a4, 56,31,50, Nothing would budge it, Old hornby pancake or lima pancake and I was in business and they got the track clean.. I can remember the days that seem not so long ago 10 years now.. when lima was highly regarded, Then the bachmann class 25 come out and it changed the british seen, that model alone is solely responsible for the rise in quality of paint, detail, mechanisms, Much as I am glad of that, I still love the older models and stull buy them,. I really want a hornby hagley hall, The old ones just ooze charm and fun. Cheers Rob
