Maritime Patrol including Coastal Command GB Chat

I have a stalled Contrail Blackburn Perth in the current Flying boat / floatplane GB, this would be an ideal chance to finish it.

I also have the Monogram Liberator in 1/48 are there Coastal Command Decals available for it ?

cheers Pat

Had a quick look at your Perth (a Vacform too far) thread Pat.  If you can finish it in the current GB, great.

If not, then it looks like you are well inside the 25% cut-off, so your Perth would be most welcome.  (Reminds me, I have a few GB's to finish too )

The Liberator would be welcome too.  Which nose does it have ... with your skills, could you mix and match decals to get a unique scheme?

Hopefully the Special Hobby Sunderland Mk.5 is released in time for this GB.

Hope so, Scalemates lists it for release in 2017, so maybe early next year?

We do still have to make the cut guys,

Just a quick question - are any nations/operators eligible for "Maritime Patrol" in this proposed GB?

(obviously those nations that aren't landlocked!  )

Cheers,

Dermot

If you can make a case for the unit modelled fitting the Maritime Patrol role, then yes, it's in.  What were you thinking of building?

This is all hypothetical at the moment ... we do still need to pass the voting

Glad to see that after 4 years in the making this one has gone through. There is a Shack, Mosquito, Beaufighters and Nimrod in the stash to do as local options but I've a part-done Beaufighter project to represent the one which dropped a French flag over the Arc de Triomphe so if it's still deemed to be under the 25% mark will hopefully weigh in with it. No worries if not as there's plenty other options as you can see :)

Thanks,  That's I question I had.

Thinking about the Revell Atlantic that has lingered in my stash since 2003.

Unfortunately, buried so deep into my stash, it might not be getoutable.

But I'm sure there's something else that fits the bill.

I hadn't heard of it ...

Its a bigger kit than I'd take on for a Group build, but, checking the reviews, I'd say yes!! 🙂

Certainly maritime patrol

I'm tempted to add an Arctic maritime recon Ju 88 D from 1.(F)/22 from Banak to keep company to my KG 26 A-4 torp and KG 30 A-4, from Banak too. 2nd choice would be a Condor...

All sound good ...

100 years of Finland - is that on Wednesday?  Congratualtions Finland

I'll be in for my 1st group build.

It'll have to be something relatively small as my build speed is glacial so my choices will probably boil down to

Airfix Beaufighter

Hasegawa or Tamiya Mosquito

Loads of others in the stash but probably too big or fiddly for me to finish in time.

Welcome to the world of group builds Edge, and to this GB.

We are going to start quite late in the year (December 2018), so can I suggest you join one of the other builds, and keep one of those kits back for this GB?  Obvoious choices for you are the Britmodeller 10th Aniversary build (which starts 20 January 2018), or the RAF Centenary build (1st April 2018)

@Romeo Alpha Yankee, you've plenty of time to make a decision ;)

Thanks for the sound advice - I hadn't checked the GB calendar before hitting the keyboard. I'll probably go with the RAF Centenary build as January and February are usually busy work-wise.
