Can I revive this thread to ask for comments in the light of Paul Lucas article in Scale Aircraft Modelling for October 2017 - starting with the colour profile of LZ295 'Z' with Sky Blue undersides and serial ? He presents a lot of supporting evidence from documents but makes a link between the description 'duck egg blue' and the official colour Sky Blue whereas I have a note that the link was usually 'duck egg blue' to Sky "Type S". Frustratingly I cannot find the source of my note.

 

Reading through the thread again it appears possible that LZ295 could have Sky Blue undersides but would anyone like to give the odds in favour of Sky Blue versus Sky ?

 

And would the serial be Sky Blue as opposed to the White put forward by Terry? Sky Blue hasn't previously been linked to serials AFAIK.

 

Final thought - the 404 Squadron website appears to have vanished, anyone know if it will reappear?

Do you have any other pictures from the now-gone 404 squadron site? I had saved some of them, but others, like the one you just posted, I didn't get.

Wow! Thanks. I tried to find that yesterday, when looking at your first link, but I couldn't get it to work. They must have switched servers a few years ago. I did have a link saved but one day there was nothing there.
