Jb65rams
My entry for this groupbuild will be a bit of aviation origami, a Fairey Barracuda with wings folded. The kit is a Special Hobby’s 1/72 Barracuda with a resin / etch wingfold by Airwaves.

Jb65rams
With my Hornet build stalled whilst I wait for some paint to be delivered, I decided to make a start on the Barracuda. The results of a evenings work. Next up is masking the canopy, probably a weeks work in itself, and taking a saw to the wings.
Procopius
I dearly wish that someone, anyone, would make a mask for this kit.
Jb65rams
Would love a mask for this, as well as for the fulmar and albacore that I also have in the stash. An hour or twos work on Thursday saw the canopy masked. Also took the time to drill and pin the undercarriage legs, don't think they would have lasted long with it.
Procopius
I'm in the same place; I have all three kits, and desperately wish there were masks for them.
mike romeo
Good choice, sir and nice start! I have the MPM kit in the stash and will be watching your progress with interest. regards, Martin Edited August 4, 2013 by mike romeo

Jb65rams
A bit more progress. Fuselage section complete and primed. The point of no return reached as I took the razor saw to the wings. The jigsaw pieces are slowly coming together, just a few etch bits still to add. Next step is to break out the airbrush for this and for my F-18 in the Hornet GB. Jb65rams
Progress moves on at a snails pace. All the main components completed. All have now been primed, next step is to break out the paint.
trickyrich
nice work so far. The canopy masking looked like a real pain, ready made masks would have been great. I've only just started using masks and now don't think i'll ever go back! Nice mod work as well, gotta love the resin!
Jb65rams
Painted using Vallejo Model Air. Started the decal, proving a bit of a struggle as they don't want to bed down, doesn't seem to matter how much setting solution I use.. Came back from work to find the wing roundels had lifted. Apologies for the quality of the photo, the flash reused to work. Just bought some of the Humbrol Weathering Washes, so I am going to give them ago. VG 33
Very nice subject. On the picture I can see the Vallejo paints are blue biased like the Italeri I used for my Sunderland. Maybe they have the same manufacturer. Looking forward. Patrick

SaintsPhil
Oh come now, removing the masking's the best bit! Totally agree! Except when it leaves ragedy edges of course... Looking good
Jb65rams
Got to the bit I was dreading, attaching the wings, because of the small mounting points. Drilled a hole in the tailplane to accept the wing mounted brackets. Was pleasantly surprised to find that when dry fitted, the wings the remained in place. So a couple of dabs of super glue and it was job done.
Joe Hegedus
NIce job on the Barracuda so far. You wouldn't, perchance, be willing to part with the alternate markings for that bird, the BPF scheme, would you?
Jb65rams
Calling this one finished. As hard as I tried, it was impossible to get her looking good in a photograph. Definitely one for the ugly plane thread in chat. More photos in the the Gallery
