foxy
Hi. Well this is a new venture for me with an old kit but with new fret products from scale warship. After much thought decided to do this waterlined. So on procuring the kit and most of the frets from scale warship I have made a start. Hopeing that the resin parts will also become avalible later. Here you see the ship partly cut down(more to take off later) and the box art behind. The hull base removed with tape and this very handy saw, which cuts a very nice line(with care). The frets I will be useing for this build. Here I have removed the rear window frets and drilled/filed the rear part of the airfix kit, also sanded off the Victory plastic. You have to be very carefull when removeing these items from the fret, they are very thin but as you can see look the part. Did the same with the side windows. As you see I have not drilled/filed the openings for the windows. Am going to try a diff approuch and gloss over this before fixing windows. Thats it for now folks, hope you like. Cheers foxy

Chippy
Great start, just a idea it might be worth adding a baulkhead inside the stern board otherwise you can see through to the bows Alan Carpenter
chadders
I'm looking forward to this one as well. Nothing better than seeing what modern modelling accessories can bring to an older kit

foxy
Thanks guys. Hope I can live up to all this. .. Tis a challenge and no mistake. Alan. There will be more decks inplace and more guns for this ship, but stowed with hatchs open. Thanks for the advice mate. An update is that Airfix/Hornby have sent me some extra guns/carrages to complete the number of guns needed. Cheers foxy .
foxy
Moved on a tad by adding extra strength to the lower deck gun ports. I am having seven of the gun ports in open position with guns in stowed position. Next I drilled/filed out all the gun ports and have made new port hatchs. Thease are some of them. Am makeing another lower deck and useing old wood deck(1/350 pontos) to cover this and the lower/main decks later. Will be cutting the wood in strips to make planking. Am useing green stuff to cover pot marks etc. Thats it so far folks. Cheers foxy

foxy
Thanks Kev mate. Got your message and thanks for the offer.I am sure I will be takeing you up on it. This will how ever be a long haul job. Most will be hidden in this scale. A kind gentleman from Germany has allowed me to show some of his pictures, this is a Heller kit of HMS Victory in 1/100 scale, he goes by the name of dafi on the scale warships.com site . The pictures will show some of the lower deck alterations that I hope to make. Not counting the poop deck there will be three other decks, two full length, lower deck will be part that can be seen from above. 'Well thats the theory'. foxy
Ok moved on a bit with the rear section. Sprayed black and a little ocor added two of the three windows, 'still waiting on a replacement for the top one'. Glazed the bottom window useing Deluxe Glue'N'Glaze. Came out very well. Extended the rear second deck. Ready to put planking on. Thats it so far. Cheers foxy
foxy
Well have ordered some decking from WEM for the deck having experimented with off cuts I had from other builds. Am also getting lots of good feedback with help and figureing out where all goes. Some progress so far. Through deck with extra rear half. Side windows with basic colours applied. Basic black sprayed on and work on the hull can now begin. Had a little trouble with the windows at the rear and damaged the top one, a replacement has arrived and also thanks to Robin of scale warships.com. He also sent in the post thease items out of the blue(and very welcome they are),'Thanks Robin'. A picture of the resin items. Last picture is of the cabin doors/windows below poop deck. I have removed the plastic windows and will be doing the same as the rear cabin windows. Started cleaning up the guns and carrages, this has to be done with a knife(sharp) as the plastic is very soft. Well thats all folks for now. foxy
Heres a picture of the gun carriages and anchors being prepared with some filling ness. I painted the 26 guns with Tamiya gun metal and the rest so far with Humbrol paints. Cheers foxy

foxy
Thanks fellas Moved on a tad with this build. Here I have added eyelets to the sides of the gun carrages. Here is what I am trying to achieve but will not be able to get this amount of detail on. This is Dafis model in 1/100 scale, showing guns in fireing and stowed position, again i will not be able to do all that detail, but we will see. A very few of the hatchs with eyelets inplace, all these will be in the open position. All the hatchs in the lower deck will be closed and have started working on them. Much to do yet and this project will take sometime methinks . Rear cabin windows now all glazed , but not really happy, two of the window frames have parted, even though I was very carefull with the glazeing. Might have to remove the centre one and start again,'thats modeling for you' . Cheers foxy

foxy
Thanks Len,HL10 and Callum mateys. Well ploding on and only the lovely weather is slowing me down, except I need some help. If anyone has some 1/350 Gold Medal PE eyelets left over from mainly US ships-:-. Like so. Can they PM me and will sort something out. I do need a few to carry on and these are just right for the gun and hull fixings. They do have a lot of extras I found from my builds of US ships in 1/350. So hope you can help. Cheers foxy. Its the hull eyelets I will be hopeing to solve soon from a German friend of mine!!!!!. There are 77 gun hatchs and I have completed 48 so far. The 48 will be in the open position.
