MASH4077
The reason is probably economical, they were known as TEAM TEST PILOTS. Tony
chrisrope
Excellent, these were the best thing at Woodford Airshow. Always put on a great show whatever the weather-usually wet and rubbish
Paul J
I remember seeing them at Biggin and Yeovilton in the past. Amazing displays!
Catbird
Apparently they were at risk of being impounded if they flew/displayed outside Russia. Due to money owed to various companies/agencies/countries. I cant remember the facts but remember reading about it. A shame as their displays were stunning. Ive no idea where the airframes are now. Anyone know? Flankerman
They are from the Gromov Flight Test centre - LII - based at Zhukovsky. The leader is one Anatoly Kvochur - now semi-retired, but still flying occasionally. He flew the Test Pilots Su-30 at Gostomel, Kiev in 2010 for the 'Aviasvit XXI' show..... AFAIK, they are still at Zhukovsky - but fly rarely. Re the impounding threat...... The Swiss company Noga tried to get an injunction to seize the Sukhoi and MiG exhibits at the Paris Air Show - for money owed by the Russian government.
