Hi,

after i am done with my models on the bench,i am here with a new one.

The porsche carrera rsr turbo.

a link to the porsche site: http://www.porsche.com/germany/sportandevents/motorsport/history/racingcars/70ies/1974-911carrerarsrturbo/

The car is for me the most powerful looking porsche 911 that they ever made.

Over 500 HP and a big huge rear wing that shows his power to every enemy.

So i bought the only kit that is available for this car from mexico.

But the result was not that was i expected.Take a look here:

On that base cant be made a good looking car,so i bought a porsche 934 body from Wim from Bestbalskits in Belgium.

Thanks Wim!

Shortly after that buy,a guy in a german modeling board sell his build porsche 934.

Now its mine and i took a while to remove the color. There was more color on it than a clown uses in a year!

For my capri project i uses an old porsche 935 for spares. This car is also very helpful for this.So when i got it ready i can also build a new porsche 934 from the rest.

In this project are not so many scratchbuild parts needed. The rear wing with the hood and window. The fenders and the tire/rim combination must be made.

I think the rest can be used from the 934/935 porsches.

Thats all for now.

Thanks

Christian

Good looking project Christian.

I hope you sent that resin kit back to Mexico, Man that is one rough looking piece of poop.

The engine looks like it has been moulded out of plasticine by a child !!

Looking forward to watching this one develop.

Steve.

Complete agreement.

Man, that 'kit' is awful!

I'd be screaming for a refund too.

I'll be interested to see what you make of it all.

Roy.

I made an agreement with cmm.

They send me 130$ of my money back and i dont send the crap from them back.

After i received my money from them i sold the kit on ebay.

I clearly told in the auction text that this kit is only for guys who have the patience to make this to the end.I also showed a lot of pics with the damaged parts and the level of "detail" they made.

After all i learned my lesson with cmm.

I'd rather say madness than patience. I'll have my eyes on your Porsche and bet it's going to be another beauty.

Cheers

A bit wider now.

I made the air outtakes from the frontbrakes.

Thats all i can show. Now i have to use putty and again a lot of sanding.

Hi,

the last step i made are the rims.

The rsr had 14" rims and the 934 used 15" rims.

First i wanted to make my own 14" rims, but i had some new ones from th e934 at home. After some measurement i found out the the tamiya 934 had some wrong diameters. So i decided to use those 15" onto the rsr.

I take the 5 spoke from the 935 and glued it into the rims from the 934.

At the end i got my 5-stars wheels for the rsr.

So no rivet counting on this from my side.I choose the way with less work.

Next step will be the tires.I make it from ureol and glue it onto the rims.Than i made a silicon mold for it because i need some wheels for other porsche projects sometime.

The body got his portion putty.

6263643163393730.jpg

The back window of the original car was a bit higher than the 934 window. So i glued it onto the right place and closed the inner side with sheet.Than a lot of putty and even more sanding to do.

This will be more free shaping the body than correct measurement.

But the result should look like the pics from the real car.

and it goes on with the back pack

The air intakes on the top and on the left are done.I need to make the spout air intake for the right side.

Next will be the rear wing and than i glue all the body parts together.

The porsche got his shoes,or something like that!

3266616339343036.jpg

The doors are put into place, but needs some more attention.

3164613831613831.jpg

The rear was cut out and also needs some work to do.

3032396464376463.jpg

I changed the style of the rims a bit.The center was a bit bigger than the inlet from the 935 porsche i used.So i made some improvement to it.

My mistake was to make make everything in one piece.I put the wheel nut onto the rim and make my mold. But that was a mistake. The whee nut needs a other color than the rim and with one part i must mask it.Thats not the way i want it.So i changed the mold and glue the wheel nut onto the rim after the paint job.

Thats better.

I'm loving this Christian!

Had you thought about moulding latex rubber for the tyres? That makes me sound like I may know what I'm talking about but don't be fooled - I've read Gerald Wingrove's books on car modelling and he spends a lot of time on wheels & tyres. Very realistic effect...

Hey Kirk,

i thought about latex when i made my capri scratch build.

But after some thoughts,i find it not necessary to use latex.

On a formula car you can see the tires from every angle.

But for a touring car is no need in my mind.

You only see some 20% from the hole tire.Thats not enough to spent too much time and money for this step.

Thats my opinion.

There are more parts who needs attention than the tires.

But many thanks for your thoughts!

Hi,

after some days in holiday and some work with my resin molds,i found time to start again with the tires.

3734643337626536.jpg

Now its way better than the first attemp.I used zero paints instead of the tamiya xf color.Way better to use.

Did someone had experience with a ultrasonic cleaner for the airgun?

I tought about to buy such a thing.
