Matt182
Thanks chaps. Ha yeah, I've seriously reduced the local model shop's stock of dark yellow and black! I continued with the basic camo scheme by masking all the dark yellow, applying red brown, masking the red brown and then applying the dark green. Masking everything has been very time consuming so I haven't got as far as I would of liked. Here is where I am at now. Sorry for the photos again, and the poor lighting. I know it looks like a toy at the moment but that will change! I've got lots of work to do! Cheers Matt

Matt182
Cheers guys I've made a little more progress. Spent some time tiding up the camo and dealing with small bits of over spray. I also added the dots for the ambush scheme. Still looking like a toy at the moment but I'm ready to start toning it down and weathering the paint. Hopefully by the next update it should be looking a lot better. Cheers Matt
Wogga
Pre-ordered the Meng KT inside and out and i am not ashamed to say i will be plagiarising your cutaway Matt.
Gremlin56
Beautiful looking Ambush scheme Matt, looks the Bee's knee's. Did you paint the spots freehand or use a template? If I can get my JT looking like that I will be an extremely happy camper........................................................
Matt182
Nice one Wogga, Meng's KT looks set to be a very nice kit indeed. Cheers Julian, spots were painted free hand. I'm finding it quite difficult to make the ambush scheme look good. The last time I tried this scheme I made a real mess of it so fingers crossed I get it right this time! I've start work on weathering the paint. First I gave it a couple of very light filters of red brown, followed by some over sprays of buff and flat earth Everything was gloss coated and the turret number added. The Pedinghaus decals come on a rather thick carrier film, might have a little trouble blending it in. Next I cracked out the oil paints to start blending everything together. The glacis plate before Oil dots applied Blended all together Some work on the side armour Still have the rest of the hull and turret to go. Ridgback
Hi Matt, yet another question I'm afraid. What do you use to mask the model? Starting to look good now the paints finally on.
Matt182
Thanks chaps. I'm going to be doing a lot of work with the oils as the base paint job come out very flat, not what I was hoping for. I'm having to adjust how I approach things as what works in 1/35 doesn't always work in 1/16. I used Tamiya masking tape, cut to the shapes I wanted. Took bloody ages to cut and shape the tape for the camo. Think I will try blu tack if I try this scheme again!
FrancisGL
Very good weathered colors, is taking shape of something real and less "toy", I really like ... cheers Matt
Matt182
Small update. I've finished the oil dot filtering on the hull, added some pin washes around the welds and details, and also done some basic detail painting. Before I go any further with the hull I will get the turret to the same stage. cheers Matt

Matt182
Cheers Mike, I'm much happier with the paint job now all the oils are going on Just a small update. The mantlet and engine deck have now received the oil filtering and pin washes. Just waiting for all the oils to dry now. Next up will be a dull coat and more detail painting. I will also be able to remove all the masking tape, fingers crossed it has done it's job! Cheers Matt

Matt182
Thanks for the comments chaps Well, I've got the dull coat on and have removed the masking tape. Only one tiny area of over spray thankfully. Very happy with how this is looking now! Only issue is the carrier film for the turret number is still visible, sure I can figure something out. Detail painting, chipping and pigments next Cheers Matt
