An unseasonably beautiful day for my first air show of the season.

It was an absolute corker wasn't it? My neck is feeling the pain of the sunburn today though..................worth it in my opinion!

Thanks for sharing your pics, looks like we must have been pretty close to each other, were you up on the tank bank?

Lovely set of pictures. :thumbsup2:

Nice to see the Mustang (Liz) back. Also great to see 9 Red Hawks again.

Great pics, and looks like you had perfect weather...nice.... :goodjob:

Good shots, thanks for posting them.

Thanks for all the kind words, chaps. Even though the weather forecast was not that great, a member of staff told me that they took 5000 advance sales, rather than the normal 2000 for the Spring Show. I got there early, but I was told the traffic was queueing onto the M11 at one point! Good for the IWM, not good for tempers!

Hi F-32,

I agree - a fantastic show! Sorry to hear about your sunburn!

I sometimes go on to the Tank Bank, but I was in the Friends of Duxford enclosure yesterday.

Thanks very much, Sean - I'm pleased that you enjoyed them.

Great photo's.

I was working :( but on my way down to Ipswich I spotted the Sally B circling over the Martlesham (ish) area.

Dunno what she was doing that far out?

Shame you missed the show. The commentator mentioned at one point that aircraft were holding over Bury, so not sure what Sally B was doing in the Martlesham area.

Glad you liked the pictures.

Excellent pics

Heading to legends this year so similar weather would be great

Thanks, mate. I love Duxford and go to as many of the shows as I can. I might go to Yeovilton on the Saturday and Legends on the Sunday this year, so fingers crossed for decent British Summer weather! :coolio:

I keep toying with the idea if taking my old dad down to Legends, but have always shyed away because of the traffic.

What's the traffic situation like usually?

I expect it to be busy, but is it really hideous... Like chokka from 3 miles back... Or busy, but not too bad?

Any heads up gratefully received.

Hi

I follow the maxim of arrive early and leave early! If you're coming off the M11, ignore the first car park on the left and continue past the main entrance/staff entrance to the on-airfield parking. Gates open at 8am and I generally arrive at 8:30am and drive straight up to the pay booth. I'm usually able to park in the grassy area between the American Air Museum and the Land Warfare Hall.

I generally leave during the final act and have never experienced any traffic trouble.

I hope that helps.
