Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa 'Oscar'

Recommended Posts

After the dissappointment with the harrier I started with a quick Oscar - typical Hasegawa nice details with simple construction.

Started with the pit, you can't see a lot of it once it's in place though

Then assembled the rest of the airframe, all goes together really simply. Then engine paints up nicely too

Today's work on the Oscar - first spraying the Aotake for the wheel wells and flaps

Then masking off the canopy with Parafilm

Masked off the wheel wells with blu-tack and the flaps with tape

on with Alclad black primer

Then rubbed back, then sprayed with Alclad Aluminium

Over this sprayed some AK Interactive 'Worn Effects' randomly, followed by some IJA Green then rubbed back with a stiff moistened brush

Then finally a coat of klear over it all to stabilize it all

Well today would have been the decals, but the decals didn't want to behave, not wanting to release from the backing, and cracking when they did release.

Therefore it was out with the craft robo, and making masks. Lots of masking tape and the masks:

The sprayed the red and white and unmasked.

Finally sprayed the yellow ID striped and the black anti-glare panels
