The following information has just come through from one of the V-Force event organisers:

“Just to let you know we have just updated the http://www.vforcereunion.co.uk/ website.

Not a lot new, just the latest figures on those who have already completed and sent in an enquiry form which are encouraging. There's no harm if you send us an enquiry form and subsequently are unable to attend - there's no commitment.

We have some new pictures, a nice Victor tanker shot sent by Tony Cunnane, former Victor tanker captain and one time OC VSU, and a couple of nice shots of XH 558 displaying at Blackpool recently, taken by Don Chadwick.”

Excellent event, went to the last one and renewed my friendship with some people I last worked with in the 70's-80's. We all have less or grey hair now, but my grey hair started on the Vulcans! Newark air museum had the cockpit open on the Vulcan as well for people to have a look into. Very good museum with a good spread of aircraft types and even sell models in the shop.

So go visit it, private museums need our support.

Oh yes! I think a few more Vulcan lineys have been tracked down and told about this event. An extension of it is now at the Waddington airshow at a predesignated beer tent, this year included a mini photo call in front of XH558.

we did one at the last one for the first time we had all met up. It's a rough looking bunch in front of the aircraft on the reunion website. 2nd picture down, 2nd one in from the left with a note that one guy was still in the cockpit.

As part of the steady build up to the V-Force event May the Victor cockpit that was taken on loan in the autumn has now been moved further down the museum site and re-located in a more central position next to Display Hangar 1.

In addition a new exhibit has joined the museum, which illustrate one of the types of defence system the V-Force crews may have faced in the event of an attack on the Eastern Bloc – a ZPU-4 Anti-Aircraft quadruple gun set!

An update has just been circulated by the V-Force Reunion Team, which reads as follows:

“Just to let you know that the http://www.vforcereunion.co.uk/ website has been updated. Check you have the latest version of the site - it has a dramatic picture of Vulcan 558 at the top of the page!

Changes include an announcement that one of the BBMF Spitfires will be doing a flypast at the reunion on the Saturday, and the cut-off date for booking tickets for the evening function at Newark Golf Club, which will be May 5th. With that in mind, if you are planning to come in the evening and haven't yet booked, please don't leave it to the last minute, but book as soon as possible - details on the homepage.

As always, after a long wait all of a sudden the event is almost on us - looking forward to seeing you there!”

One final update before the weekend!

Everything progressing well – setting up display tables in Hangar 2 almost complete; and the marquee for the Reunion ‘signing-in’ tables is being set-up tomorrow.

Even the weather forecast looks reasonable for both days.
