hacker
http://www.airforce-technology.com/news/newskorea-fa-50-philippines http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/kai-philippines-to-enter-final-negotiations-for-12-fa-50s-381688/ l guess the Philippines are wary of china's intentions and seeing they been aggressive of late in that area. Not really sure these jets can do much but the 12 are better then nothing which they had since they retired their F-5As back in 04 and been using OV-10 broncos for a bit, interesting jet sort of a cross between the F-18 and the F-

hacker
l am starting a collection of PAF planes in 1/48. It is the wife's home country so l said l would do some for her. I am pretty sure l can get the T-50 in 1/48 but what would l have to do to convert it into the FA-50?
Adam Maas
Looks like the main external difference is the new nose, the FA-50's is noticeably longer to handle the radar. I also suspect the kit won't have the full complement of pylons for an FA-50 vs a T-50.
Ian
Well there's another one of my 'what if' builds removed from the 'to do' pile !! - Superb looking machine IMHO, even better in camouflage. Ian

Truro Model Builder
At the risk of sounding too cynical, it may yet remain a what-if. It's not the first time the Philippines has announced a major purchase of combat aircraft, only for the deal to fall through due to lack of funding. Seems to be a regular thing every three or four years. Hopefully this time it will continue; if not, the Hawk Mk67s could be an ideal second option, even if it does not do anything for the Korean aerospace industry.
