tonyot
Those Fireflies are nice kits but I hope that AZ Model have included a shorter spinner in these new boxings as the original one was far too long. It should be more like a Mosquito spinner, I used an old scrapped Airfix Mossie to re nose two of my Fireflies. Cheers Tony O
Homebee
That's why you've the Barracudacast upgrade sets http://barracudacals.com/products.php?cat=14 BR48001 Firefly Mk. I Prop and Spinner This set contains one resin cast spinner and 4 prop blades to replace the parts in the Grand Phoenix and AZ Models 1/48 Firefly I kit. The kit spinner is bloated and oversized, and the prop blades are thick, crude, and inaccurate in shape. This simple upgrade makes a huge difference in the look of your finished model. Source: http://barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR48001 BR48002 Firefly Mk. I Cannon Barrels This set consists of two complete sets of resin cast cannon barrels to replace the parts in the Grand Phoenix and AZ Models 1/48 Firefly I kit. One set is for the long barrel cannon fitted Firefly, and the other is for the later short barrel aircraft. The kit parts are overscale and crude. These barrels are refined, with drilled out barrels, and are a drop fit to the kit. Source: http://barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR48002 BR48003 Firefly Mk. I Early Wheels A pair of accurate and detailed early style 5-slot mainwheels for WWII era Fireflies. The tires are smooth, and the wheel hubs are detailed down to the castellations in the axle nut. A huge improvement over the fictional wheels in the Grand Phoenix and AZ Model kit. Source: http://barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR48003 BR48004 Firefly Mk. I Late Wheels This set of block-treaded 4-slot wheels is perfect for anyone modelling a postwar Firefly. The Grand Phoenix and AZ Models 1/48 Firefly I kits do not include the late style wheels. Detailed and accurate, these 32" wheels are also perfect for postwar Tempest, Sea Fury, DH Hornet, DH Sea Hornet, and Firebrand models in 1/48 scale. Source: http://barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR48004 BR48005 Firefly Mk. I Vacform Canopy This set contains one super clear vacform canopy designed to be displayed open to replace the somewhat thick parts in the Grand Phoenix and AZ Models 1/48 Firefly I kit. Both releases of this kit have a very nice resin cockpit, and really benefit from opening the canopies. Source: http://barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR48005 V.P. Homebee
Here are the Aires made kit resin parts Source: http://www.modelarovo.cz/fr/azmodel-v-norimberku/ V.P. Edited September 22, 2016 by Homebee
Paul Bradley
Those look very nice.
venomvixen
The interior is very accurate and surprisingly for Aires stuff, goes in without to much a battle. The only problem I can see is removing a lot of the black boxery in the rear office for the target tug. It should have a single radio on the rear shelf and very lttle else.
