Great dioramas! They really create atmosphere. How did you do the water?

For the water I used Woodland Scenics Water for the depth of translucent water on top of a beach like surface made with model railway gravel.

Just 3mm of depth applied and left for 24h then repeated until the correct depth was achieved.

For the waves I used Woodland Scenic Water effects (also used on the mud tracks on the p-38 and water in the fire bucket.

I found using a wooden spoon gave great little waves, like icing a cake.

But be warned, It looked very milky for along time before started to clear. I was on the verge of giving up and throwing the model in the bin when I decided to wait a few more days. Sure enough, it eventually cleared nicely.

For the benefit of Phil and a few others that asked:

The additional shelves are made from Perspex @ 280mm x 380mm (4mm thick)

I've heard that the Ikea units may vary in size so check against your shelves before cutting.

The shelves are held on the existing uprights with B&Q 6.5mm cable clamps

(see pic), I added some rubber pipe to the ends to give the clamps a little extra grip.

The lights are simply screwed into the shelves directly from below.

Excellent dioramas and a nice solution to the shelving issue.

I'd already made up my mind to get one of these cases but was wondering what to do about extra shelves.
