Howdy :bye:

Ok, the Katana is complete.

The Specs:

Kit - Tamiya Suzuki GSX 1100 Katana

Paint - Yes, loads of it, spray and tin.

No Aftermarket stuff, but stolen bits such as a 4 into 1 exhaust, KYB shocks and a few embellishments such as keys in the ignition.

Built OOB, was a nice change, as im normally upto my eyebrows in PE bits, sticking myself to the dog

Bike was built 'as used', and remembering from when I was a bike yobbo, front screen was removed as well as one mirror. (dont ask, dont know).

Happy with the results..... neh. (I never am).

All comments are appreciated and accepted. Thanks for looking.

Honda NR750- HRC Celebratory colours.

She is finished...

Ok, the bits...

Finished in Tamiya and Humbrol, (took 6 rattlecans,), colour layered and stripped 3 times....

Tried my hands at 'dirty' instead of shop floor finish, yeah well....

Base, took Helomans advice (thanks colin), sheet of very fine black sandpaper, drybrushed black and dark grey. white line sparayed as if it has eroded over time, hope it looks ok.

Thanks for your support throughout the build, just glad its finished.

Ok Here's my entry/s.....

Kit: Tamiya Kawasaki KR 500

Paint: Tamiya Aerosol for the green and white various other for the detail and artists acrylic for Mr Ballington.

Decals: Kit

Mods: cut two spokes out of each wheel to hide them behind the forks/swing arm.

Detail: Used various thicknes of wire and pipe for the cables etc, rose wire for the throttle cables, which proved to be troublesome, it's too rigid!

Base: Plasticard, sprayed with aerosol black, primer and white. Model railway grass for the curb.

Mr Ballington turns into a corner on his Rubberwaki!

3rd April at 1800hrs; Phew, I made it! Just....

So here's my finished entry, Tamiya's Yamaha YZR500, kit number 14038, representing an early YZR500 (OW70) ridden by Kenny Roberts. The build thread is here

The model was essentially built straight from the box, just with the addition of some detail parts from Top Studio. These were predominantly hoses, clamps and rivets. Cabling by Model Factory Hiro and paints from Zero Paints, after market decals were also used. So it wasn't really out of the box at all! But what has amazed me is that the kit was first released in 1985, making it almost 30 years old!

Anyway, this was a thoroughly enjoyable GB and thanks to the hosts and, of course, to Mish for setting this one up. Some great modelling is on show in this Group Build and I am humbled by the other entries.

To start off with here a are a couple of shots prior to hiding all the detail, followed by a few of her with her clothes on!

Here's my effort - my first bike as it turns out. Hopefully not the last since I really enjoyed it.

1/6 scale Yamaha YZ250C from Tamiya. Kit chrome removed and painted with Tamiya rattle cans plus acrylics and Alclad through the airbrush. Weathered with Mig washes. Apart from a couple of bits of wire this is an out-of-the-box build, including the cute race stand (which was pretty helpful when building the bike).

Here it is outside my garage:
